Mar 30 all-day
Solardo & Latmun/STUDIO 4x4 at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Studio 4/4: From House to Progressive to Tech to Deep to Disco, this night is all about 4/4 dance music.

DJs:

SOLARDO: UK-based producers Mark Richards (MRK1) and James Elliot make up Solardo. Solardo is carving its own sound in the house and techno market.

LATMUN: Latmun, the moniker of Joe Bradley, is making his mark through his own interpretation of the house and tech house soundscape. Bakermat at Q
Mar 31 all-day
Bakermat at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub presents BAKERMAT: GOOD VIBE TRIBE TOUR

An alias for the Dutch electronic dance producer Lodewijk Fluttert, Bakermat makes uplifting house music containing smooth guitars and saxophones, as well as samples from genres such as soul, gospel, and disco. Active since 2012, his music is a direct precedent of the “tropical house” and “melodic house” subgenres that gained prominence during the mid-2010s. At the age of 18, he went to the University of Utrecht to study Psychology. It was Utrecht that made him discover deep house and producing. He started practising a lot with production and DJing and quickly developed a sound of his own. In short time, he went from being an ordinary student with no musical network at all to a producer with labels and agencies knocking on his door. His sets are filled with joy and happines, and always melodic. Saxophones, flutes, trumpets, Bakermat tries to use them a lot because it’s the combination of these jazz instruments with deep house music that make Bakermat’s style unique.

Blockhead with The Hood Internet at Nectar
Mar 31 all-day
Blockhead with The Hood Internet at Nectar @ Nectar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Nectar, KEXP & SolidSound present:

BLOCKHEAD: I’m Blockhead. I was born and raised in downtown manhattan. I make beats. I’ve worked with a bunch of MC’s (lots with Aesop Rock, Murs, Cage, Mike Ladd, and a bunch of others). I also do solo instrumental hip hop type shit on Ninja Tune Records. My first album “Music By Cavelight” is now approaching triple platinuim and I’m thinking of buying a jet . Both of those statements are incredebly false. But what is true is that I’m also one half of the critically acclaimed (if acclaimed means dispised) Party Fun Action Committee along with my homeslice Jer. It was a comedy album put out by Def Jux. It is also , possibly, the best worst selling album ever made. Since then, I’ve made four other solo albums, worked with a bunch of rappers, toured a lot and I’m still here. My newest album, “Interludes after midnight” is out now. You should totally check it out. Seriously.

THE HOOD INTERNET: As the name that they go by suggests, The Hood Internet are quite clearly an act in thrall to the possibilities that the internet has opened up, these past few years, for hip hop as a genre; it’s especially true of alternative hip hop, whereby artists play by different rules and experiment more than the mainstream side of the style would really allow. The Chicago duo – comprised of ABX and STV SLV – were primarily concerned with mashing up other hip hop tracks to begin with, after they formed in 2007, but have since gone on to pursue original material, in the form of their one album to date, FEAT; the album features underground guest spots form the likes of Tobacco, Class Actress and Cadence Weapon. In addition, the pair have also pursued slightly sillier things, like Album Tacos, a series of photoshopped classic album covers with tacos covering the original content, but they’ve also played live sets, which has seen them mash up classic hip hop cuts in a slick and often comical manner; it’s little wonder, then, that they’ve managed to carve out a cult fanbase, one that’s no doubt eagerly awaiting the next move from the duo in the studio.

Stacy Kidd at the Monkey Loft
Mar 31 all-day
Stacy Kidd at the Monkey Loft @ Monkey Loft, | Seattle | Washington | United States

Aksion presents:

STACY KIDD (House 4 Life Records – Chicago)
Stacy Kidd was born in Chicago in 1972 and started DJing in 1987 after being amazed by the music he was hearing on the radio. He started out recording Chicago house mixes off the radio, and would try to mix them together with 2 tape decks. He would even try to mix them together on one radio with 2 tape players on it. After doing that for a year, Stacy began to have a good ear for the music and started to buy records…. but didn’t even own a turntable yet. It wasn’t until 1989 when he finally got a single turntable and started to mix with one turntable and one tape deck. Having mixed for a while without a pitch control on tape decks, using the turntable came naturally. In 1990 Stacy was invited to play at a house party where he first used two turntables. There he met Paul Johnson who was a guest at the party. Stacy was playing a lot of unknown tracks he received from other producers like Ron Hardy, DJ Rush, Armando and Farley JM Funk. Paul also had some unknown material so they stared comparing tracks. Stacy would play one, then Paul would play one. This went on for hours. Soon after, they began to hang out and work on music together regularly.

In 1994 Stacy completed his first record with Paul on Dance Mania Records called “Stacy Kidd & Pilly P Doing Thangs Vol 1.” They went on to do two more volumes before Stacy completed his first solo project called “15213 Loomis” on Dance Mania Records in 1996. Following Paul Johnson’s advise on musical styles, Stacy put out three club records that same year on Huge Records (Chicago), Relief Records (Chicago) and Peacefrog Records in London. In 1997 he started traveling with Paul and performing at different events all over the world. The following year, Stacy made a huge impact on the club scene when he released five records on Dusttraxx Records (Chicago), Aftermidnight Records (Holland), Riviera Records (France), Daddy Records – a sub label of Peacefrog (London) and a remix for Ministry of Sound Records in London. He continued to release records and travel meeting a lot of DJs & producers from all over the world. By the year 2000, Stacy reached a whole new level, he was working on more vocal projects and remixes for larger labels as well as joining many tours and studio sessions with a lot of the top house music producers in the game. In 2002, Stacy started his own production company, “Underground Elements”, which includes vocalists Joi Williams and Matthew Yates, producers/DJ‘s Tim Funatik (Dallas), Melvin Meeks (Chicago), Scott Payne (Chicago), and Ice Mike Lataker (Chicago). In 2003, Stacy Kidd’s “HOT”, got him recognized as one of the most versatile up-and-coming producers in Chicago by DJ Magazine. Stacy also joined the Louie Vega and Kenny Dope (MAW) family on their new label “Kenlou Records.” Stacy has DJed all over the world and the U.S. and has a lot more production coming out of “Underground Elements” in the near future.

Soft Option 4th BLING PARTY w Flave/Kristina Childs/Anthony/Karl! Join us on April Fool’s day for our 4th Annual APRIL FOO’, BLING YO’SELF! We’re delivering a SOLID GOLD lineup, with Flave, Kristina Childs, Jackson Greyhound (Anthony Robinson), and Karl Kamakahi delivering beats that dazzle. Bring out your heavy hitting glitz, glam, and bling for this one. Rhinestones. Gold chains. Grillz. Sparkles. Shine. Get creative, or rock what you got, and BLING ON!

DJs:

FLAVE (Simplify Rec, AlphaTribeStudio, The Foreplay with Flave on C89.5 The Vortex): Flave hardly needs an introduction. A Seattle staple spanning decades, Flave has rocked the house scene for many generations of dancers. His funky style is punctuated by occasional appearances of the saxophone. Not limited to just house, he has also played and won the Seattle DnB championships.

JACKSON GREYHOUND (AKA Anthony Robinson – WHC, Hot Sh!t, & Aries Project): Anthony Robinson started out as a vinyl disc jockey, DJing Seattle warehouse parties, outdoor venues, and clubs with the World House Crew in 1993. He’s been a DJ for just over the last 20 years, and a strong supporter of the local underground music scene. His record and digital collection reflects his influences growing up with an eclectic range of genres, so it’s not uncommon to hear accents of soul, tech, progressive, new wave, disco, or hip hop, break beats, funk, and early house during the course of his sets.

KRISTINA CHILDS (Plasmodium / KRAKT! / The Outer Limits): As well as being a guest DJ at many clubs in the Seattle area and nearly half of the US, Childs has held over 8 residencies and headlined events in Europe and South America. She’s had terrestrial radio airplay in Canada and Germany as well as the US, is the curator of Plasmodium, co-creator of KRAKT and as a founding director of Decibel Festival played an integral role in making it one of North America’s premier electronic music festivals. Her diligence in the Seattle scene made her a popular Northwest DJ, combining excellent track selection and mixing skill with her signature floor-filling sound and energetic performances. In 2007 she won the Battle of the Mega-Mixes competition, successfully defended her title in 2008, and in 2009 was invited to judge alongside Pezzner and DJ Introcut. Childs is a DJs DJ. She is known primarily for her techno sets, however you can hear her play everything from ambient to hip-hop, downtempo, electro, disco, breaks, new wave, funk or whatever else she feels like playing depending on the event. Childs was introduced to electronic music in 1995, but being involved in the punk scene, she remained a closet technohead until her first party in 1998. It was then she was introduced to deep house, and immediately knew this music would become a fundamental part of her life. It did, and within a year she was playing parties and after-hours around the Seattle area. Her debut release was 2004 in the form of a vocal appearance on Take’s Colossal Volume 1.

KARL KAMAKAHI (De La Creme Soundsystem): Karl Kamakahi is the founder of the De La Creme vision and has been Djing since 1989. He began experimenting with freestyle, transitioned into techno, and eventually felt the most at home with house music by 1992.

Shiba San with Jax Jones at Q
Apr 7 all-day
Shiba San with Jax Jones at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub presents Low_Pass: It’s time to set a higher bar for the low end of our music. Inspired by the sounds of bass house, G-house, UK garage, and more; Low_pass is our unfiltered take on uptempo, bassline-driven dance music. Q Nightclub’s award-winning Funktion-One sound system boasts 21 inch subwoofers and once a month we’re gonna find out just how far down the rabbit hole they’ll go.

DJs:

Shiba San: In recent times Shiba San has garnered a lot of positive attention from every corner, with one foot in his hip hop past and the other embracing the future of house he has found a comfortable collision of the two in bass heavy ghetto funk. And associations with both Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and AMINE & Dance’s Cuff certainly haven’t hurt.

Jax Jones: Live beat-maker and multi-instrumentalist Jax Jones is, at his roots, a solo act. Growing up in a multi-ethnic household, Jax was exposed to a wealth of influences. After his Nigerian stepfather introduced him to afrobeat via Fela Kuti and rap with a tape of the Biggie Smalls album, Jax’s musical diet developed to consist of Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel and traditional African music. Producers like The Neptunes, Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins shaped his musical horizons and his fascination with the anatomy of a rhythm section. Having initially studied classical guitar from a young age, Jax took up beat-making at 15 after discovering Cubase on his friend’s Atari. Cutting his teeth at open mic clubs around London, Jax eventually came together with Rippermann, an up-and-coming grime producer from Mitcham at Brixton’s Raw Materials Studio and worked on notable releases for Big Narstie and Roadside Gs, among others in the scene.

Spectrasoul with KJ Sawka & more at the Monkey Loft
Apr 14 all-day
Spectrasoul with KJ Sawka & more at the Monkey Loft @ Monkey Loft | Seattle | Washington | United States

Aksion presents a two-room Monkey Loft event with SPECTRASOUL & KJ Sawka (live!)

Since their emergence in 2006, SpectraSoul have carved a truly unique position, not only in Drum & Bass, but electronic music as a whole. Having released music on only the very finest and most respected labels in the scene, from Goldie’s legendary Metalheadz, to dBridge’s boundary breaking Exit Records, and Kasra’s ever progressive Critical Music, they went on to become vital members of Friction’s irrepressible Shogun Audio imprint. Beautifully deep and etched with groove yet powerful enough to move any dancefloor, SpectraSoul’s stunning musical productions are a far cry from the soulless, synthetic rave fodder so many unfortunately associate with Drum & Bass today. Their creative evolution has seen them incorporate such a variety of tempos and moods – bending genres in the process – yet their underlying sound remains instantly recognisable, and in many ways unique. The breadth of their creative influences is a rarity within their peer group; taking influence not only from a unique mixture of musical genres and moments in time, but also from wider fields such as photography, art, film and beyond. 2016 sees the duo spread their wings and launch their very own label, Ish Chat Music — with the plan to release with greater frequency and to present a broader and more varied selection of SpectraSoul music; musically rich and diverse as ever. Keep your eyes peeled in 2016…

KJ SAWKA (Impossible Records/Pendulum/Destroid): If you haven’t heard, they plan to ‘Elevate your Existence’ while bringing forth the next stage of the electronic music movement… the new mega collaboration is born, DESTROID. Led by Canadian bass master Excision, featuring Downlink and KJ Sawka has already been crushing 2012-14 main stages. A full-on live Dubstep band executed in a way that bass music has never seen.

Deadmau5 with Feed Me at the WaMu Theater [2nd SHOW] @ Seattle | Washington | United States

Deadmau5 returns to Seattle for headlining shows at the WaMu Theater on Saturday, April 22nd (sold out) and Friday, April 21st, 2017!

Just announced: Feed Me will be opening support for both Seattle shows!

The deadmau5 live experience has long been one of the most invigorating in music, taking listeners on a complete journey that melds his signature sound with a state-of-the-art live show. He will be taking his new album W:/2016ALBUM/ on the “LOTS OF SHOWS IN A ROW TOUR” in 2017 with a new live show and an even bigger cube. The show will consist of new music from W:/2016ALBUM/, a myriad of original deadmau5 compositions ranging from atmospheric to techno to old-school synths with NME calling it, “a judicious side-step away from the plasticky insta-rush of EDM, it finds Zimmerman rebuilding his sound around the huge collection of classic and rare synths he’s lovingly assembled in his new studio.”

deadmau5′ new stage show, a kinetic version of his previous cube with many enhancements, recently made its debut last night via “Live In Rehearsals,” where he gave a livestream performance on his YouTube channel of songs from W:/2016ALBUM/ and unveiled his updated, custom-built Cube 2.1, giving not only a sneak peek of his new music, but also the opportunity to explore the famed cube that is central to his upcoming live performances. Standing at 15 ft. tall and 16 ft. wide, making it larger than its predecessors, Cube 2.1 features internal robots that push the sides of the cube, consisting of state-of-the-art LED panels, up and around while projecting brand new graphics.

On deadmau5’s YouTube channel in the coming weeks, experience exclusive content including the livestream performance, 360-degree and standard format performance videos of the lead single “Let Go (feat. USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Resonate Fridays: Wolfgang Gartner

Wolfgang Gartner is a Grammy-nominated American electro house producer and DJ. His music has been compared to the likes of Deadmau5 and Justice. Much of his music prior to 2010 was released through his own record label – Kindergarten, but in 2010 he signed with Ultra Records. In his short time producing music, a total of eight of Gartner’s songs have held the #1 position on the Beatport Top 10 Chart. Gartner has performed at world-renowned dance music festivals such as Coachella 2010, Electric Daisy Carnival 2010, and tours extensively around the world. Joey Youngman created the Wolfgang Gartner name in late 2007 after establishing a moderately successful name as a Deep House DJ. Not wanting to be criticized for such an abrupt change in style, Youngman created the name anonymously. Gartner’s identity was revealed officially in July 2008. In 2010, Gartner debuted as a featured guest on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix series, hosted by DJ/producer Pete Tong.

G Jones at Neumos @ Neumos | Seattle | Washington | United States

Upper Left presents G Jones at Neumos with Sayer & Yheti for the Visions 2017 Tour.

In a culture where saying “where is the drop” being totally irrelevant to 2016, G Jones continues to compromise the moment of clarity at big festival sound systems. Jones rises to defy stereotypical electron marketable content, DJ press photos and recap videos, instead having placed emphasis where songs happen around the same time as back in his studio, contemplative, taking “no” for an answer. After several interviews proved disastrous, Jones finds social anxiety as a frequent reminder of art’s place in society. As some have saiad “electronic dance music dead” , Jones reminds us, “it’s only the beginning”.

Giorgio Moroder with Sean Majors at the Neptune

Giorgio Moroder with Sean Majors at the Neptune @ The Neptune | Seattle | Washington | United States

STG presents Giorgio Moroder

As the founder of disco and an electronic music trailblazer, Giorgio Moroder made his mark as an influential Italian producer, songwriter, performer and DJ. At 74 years old, Moroder still has his hands in the center of EDM culture, swinging back into the spotlight in 2013 as a guest collaborator on the GRAMMY Award-winning Daft Punk album Random Access Memories (“Album Of the Year”), new remixes for Donna Summer, Haim and his Scarface motion picture soundtrack, a newfound station as an acclaimed live DJ at major global festivals and clubs, and a forthcoming new album of collaborations. Over the course of his career, Mr. Moroder has worked with some of the most famous names in music including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson and David Bowie. He is heavily noted for being the key player in the Queen of Disco Donna Summer‘s rise to fame throughout the 1970s, collaborating with her on her biggest hits including “Love To Love You Baby,” “Hot Stuff” and “I Feel Love.” In 1997, Moroder and Summer won the Grammy Award for “Best Dance Recording” for the song “Carry On.” He recently teamed with Verve records to honor Summer with Love To Love You Donna, a collection of her most notable hits remixed by Afrojack, Hot Chip, Laidback Luke, Masters at Work and others.

Giorgio Moroder’s music charted success everywhere the disco craze touched down but he is also responsible for some of the most classic film scores to date including Scarface and Midnight Express, as well as timeless soundtrack numbers like “Take My Breath Away” (Top Gun), Irene Cara’s “Flashdance,” Blondie’s “Call Me” (American Gigolo), as well as compositions on films such as The NeverEnding Story, Superman III, Rambo III and Beverly Hills Cop II. From these, Moroder has accumulated three Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, four Grammys and more than 100 gold and platinum records. Giorgio Moroder was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Originally from Val Gardena-Dolomiti, Italy, Giorgio Moroder spent his early years in music touring Europe; playing bass and guitar in pop-oriented ensembles. He first gained popularity in Munich, where in 1969, the release of his single “Looky Looky” was awarded a gold disc. He eventually teamed up with Pete Bellotte and Donna Summer’s “Love to Love You Baby”, the song that is now credited with starting the popular, worldwide disco craze.

His many innovative film scores include three Academy Award winners. The first came for his score to the 1978 film Midnight Express. The second recognized was Irene Cara’s inspirational hit, “Flashdance,” from the film of the same title. Lastly, “Take My Breath Away” from the film, Top Gun, brought him his third Academy Award. Compositions by Moroder have also contributed to numerous other hit films such as Superman III, Rambo III, Beverly Hills Cop II, anad the score for the 1983 gangster epic, Scarface. Moroder’s creativity has also entered the realms of sports and global affairs. He wrote the songs “Reach Out” for the 1984 Olympics, “Hand in Hand” for the 1988 Olympics, the worldwide hit song “Un Estate Italiana” for the 1990 Soccer World Cup in Italy, and “Forever Friends” for the 2008 Summer Olympics. In 2013, he collaborated on the song “Giorgio by Moroder” with acclaimed electronic duo, Daft Punk, ushering a resurgence of Moroder’s work and earning his 3rd Grammy award. As of 2014, Giorgio Moroder has performed around the world at shows including Vivid Fest, Moogfest, Wireless Festival, Les Ardentes, and Pacha Ibiza. His album Deja Vu, which was released on Sony/ RCA in 2015 featured collaborations with Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Charli XCX, Matthew Koma, Mikky Ekko, Sia and more. The album reached number one in the US on the Billboard dance/electronic charts.

REZZ is a DJ/Producer based out of Niagara Falls, Canada. Her unique spin on underground Techno has caught the ears of Deadmau5 & Skrillex, and made her a hot topic on music blogs & publications around the world often hailing her as “Girlsaffelstein”. Course: You will find multiple party zones with live DJ’s, Dancers, Light-shows, Selfie-Stations, and Glow Gear giveaways! We encourage you to dance and party as long as you like. If you’re looking to set your 5K personal record, this might not be the run for you!

Main Stage After Party: After you cross the finish line the real party begins! On the main stage multiple DJ’s will bring the house down. Dance the night away, as lights, fog, cryo, confetti guns, and giveaways rain down on you! This all leads up to our surprise headliner DJ!
