USC Events & Foundation Nightclub present SUBstance Wednesdays: Bleep Bloop & Ethan Glass with Keano B2B Subsonic Drops B2B Kemlite

Bleep Bloop: Bleep Bloop’s musical world is one of stripped back, bass-heavy beats paired with stark, surreal soundscapes. Aggressive and off the wall sounds weave in and out of heavy drums as he blends genre’s into a low frequency style that works as well at a festival as it does in your headphones. Bleep Bloop has earned the support of distinguished artists such as DJ Shadow, 12th Planet, DJ Craze, ƱZ, Kode9, Boyz Noize, Minnesota, Herobust, and G Jones, to name just a few. He has performed at sold out shows in flagship venues across the country alongside DJ Shadow,Cashmere Cat as well as Low End Theory. His music has been broadcast on BBC Radio1, MistaJam, Diplo and Friends, Rinse FM, and on every continent except for antarctica (maybe). Bass dipped in liquid question marks and rolled in lazers.

Ethan Glass: Ethan Glass is a talent that has been making some serious waves and standing out with his unconventional approach to bass music. His experimental sound is heavily rooted in Hip-Hop influences and low-end ‘Trap.’

Patrice Scott & D.Tiffany/SWEATBOX at Kremwerk @ Kremwerk | Seattle | Washington | United States

Wow, time certainly flies by, doesn’t it? We never really knew where this ship was headed but certainly didn’t think we’d be at it all these years later. But ten years on and we’re still here doing our part to keep the techno torch burning in Seattle. Even though our residents are spread out among different coasts and continents, the anniversary parties are always special and always a good reason to get the band back together, this year being no exception. We’ve crafted a lineup that reflects the sound we’ve built over the years and brings the whole Sweatbox crew back together in one room for another blowout. A huge thank you to all the artists, venue owners, and co-promoters who have worked with us and of course, all the friends, family and dedicated techno-heads who have consistently supported us. It has been an honor and a blast keeping this ship afloat with you for so many years. Here’s hoping for many more and we hope you can join us for a proper ten-year celebration.

DJs:
Patrice Scott [Sistrum Recordings / Detroit]
D.Tiffany (aka DJ Zozi) [Planet Euphorique, Pacific Rhythm / B.C.]

Crizzly/SUBstance at Foundation
May 2 all-day
Crizzly/SUBstance at Foundation @ Foundation Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub present SUBstance Wednesdays 5 Year Anniversary ft. Crizzly with Sir Kutz, ENDR, & NO-BULL. SUBstance Wednesdays is turning 5 and we are celebrating with the one and only Crizzly!

Channeling hyperactive energy and uncontainable swagger, the San Antonio DJ and producer ignites crowds with an intoxicating, infectious, and inimitable blend of dubstep and hip-hop, which he affectionately terms, “Crunkstep”. He describes his sound and style best though. “It’s definitely a mixture of two different worlds, dance music and hip-hop,” he goes on. “People can connect because there’s a lot going on, and there’s more than one dimension. The audience responds immediately too. Since there’s a half-time feel, the blend just makes sense. It feels right to me.” Most importantly, it feels right to audiences. In fact the best way to experience Crizzly is to actually be in the audience. “I play a lot of hard stuff,” he concludes. “I expend a ton of energy. I want the fans to get buck wild, crazy, and crunk. I want them to make some bad decisions and have fun.” One thing’s for sure: there ain’t no party like a Crizzly party.

Jody Wisternoff at the Underground @ The Underground | Seattle | Washington | United States

Seattle Trance Alliance & In Motion present Elements: Jody Wisternoff

Jody Wisternoff (Anjunadeep/Circle Artists Management): One half of Bristol’s veteran house and trance group Way Out West, producer and DJ Jody Wisternoff has also maintained a solo career, remixing artists while releasing his own productions of nostalgic electro and progressive house. Wisternoff launched his career in 1986 at the age of 13 when he became a finalist at the DMC World DJ Championship; two years later, he joined his brother Sam in the hip-hop crew True Funk Posse. The ’90s saw him at the forefront of the U.K. rave scene as a member of both Way Out West (with Nick Warren) and Sub Love (with DJ Die), while the 2000s found him an in-demand remixer with work for Leama & Moor, IKON, Coalesced, and Astral Tiger. A string of solo singles from labels like In Charge (2006’s “Nostalgia”) and Dirty Soul (2007’s “Starstrings” and 2009’s “Welcome to Your Life”) were electro-based and ’80s-influenced, while the 2012 album Trails We Blaze, on the Anjunabeats label, returned to the genre of progressive house. Since then, he’s released solo singles on AnjunaDeep, including 2013’s “We Are Heroes” and 2014’s “Paramour,” and along with label manager James Grant, he’s mixed several volumes of the label’s eponymous compilation series.

LEViT∆TE, Nofux Gibbons, Frida K, Quackson & more/WAVES at Fred Wildlife Refuge @ Fred Wildlife Refuge | Seattle | Washington | United States

WAVES Presents: Static Exhibition ft. LEViTΔTE, WAVES ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Electromagnetic WAVES travel through space and time, radiating through our atmosphere, and exist as the only energy that can transverse an empty space… Static, is its physical manifestation–the product of electrical charges and their imbalance, creating an electric disturbance, an error consistent in our interaction with electricity. It’s the white noise on the radio, the glitch on a TV with no signal, a surprising shock to the body. This phenomenon is the catalyst for the conversion of electric energy into something extraordinary: Static Exhibition.

Immerse yourself into the frequency of sound and transfigure into the pulsing rhythms transversing throughout the space, imitating the electricity that embodies hearts beating. Synthesized glitches in custom projected visuals, aerial performances, and the sounds of the electronic music underground will emulate many spectrums of energy during this unique audiovisual experience. We welcome our special guest “LEViTΔTE”, a renowned electronic music producer and visual artist, along with a shining bill of local talent for this event. Happening one night only, this event features two stages, custom made immersive visuals on a projection mapped stage in addition to a 60 foot projected backdrop, this visual experience will be unlike any other. A second upstairs silent disco with two channels of music to satisfy the tastes of many, powered by Sounddown Seattle. This event will also feature custom lighting, lasers, and strobe lighting, so please be cautious if you have photosensitivity.

So we’ve been doin the dang thing for almost 2 years now….and meanwhile across the country there are plenty of other promoters that strive for the same sort of excellence in bookings, curating of vibes, and partying till they kick out out mindset that we do….and one of those parties is ‘House 2 Ourselves’ down in San Diego. Good homies of ours ever since we met them on Holy Ship, and having booked many of the same artists we just KNEW we had to team up with them. A weekend-long celebration of everything awesome starting with your regularly scheduled Noise Complaint party on Friday night and finishing with a Sunday Funday Rooftop party in San Diego. Join us for one – or both – but either way come prepared to party! Noise Complaint, House2Ourselves, and the Kremwerk/Timbre Room Complex are proud to present, two rooms of thoughtfully curated music featuring:

DOORLY: Hailed as one of the most technically gifted DJs of his generation, as well as being a producer extraordinaire, record label boss and general Ibiza legend, Doorly is without question one of the world’s most singularly talented electronic artists. A personal favorite of ours, Doorly is one of those DJs that you drop what you are doing and go see him when you have the chance. The fact that we get to host him for 2 parties across 2 states in one weekend is simply insane to us! Combined with our good friends from San Diego, we couldn’t be more honored to host one of the most talented and influential DJs of the last decade!

Seven Lions with Kill The Noise, Liquid Soul & Jason Ross at the Wamu Theater

Seven Lions with Kill The Noise, Liquid Soul & Jason Ross at the Wamu Theater @ Wamu Theater | Seattle | Washington | United States

USC Events presents Seven Lions: Chronicles Chapter I at the Wamu Theater on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 with Kill The Noise, Liquid Soul & Jason Ross!

Seven Lions has announced the debut of his new event series, entitled ‘Chronicles,’ of which the first installment will take place on May 12 at Seattle’s WaMu Theater. ‘Chronicles’ is a concept born out of the world of Seven Lions – a mysterious place that’s existence has been foreshadowed throughout the fabric of the project. Now, with Chronicles, it all comes together in a live spectacle that will usher in an expansion of the world of Seven Lions.

Curating a line-up that delves into all corners of his influences and tastes – with acts from the worlds of trance, bass music and psy respectively – Chronicles will also see Seven Lions play two contrasting sets to book-end the event’s musical journey. Opening up the room with a special ‘Observatory’ set, Seven Lions will explore his deeper and more experimental side as with his recently launched mix series, whilst his headline closing set will provide the classic peak-time Seven Lions experience that he has imported to festival stages, clubs and theatre halls across the globe.

Stoked to announce the first chapter of my new event series – Chronicles. I’ll be inviting some of my favorite acts to join me at the WaMu Theater in Seattle on May 12. Me and my team are working hard on lots of extra touches to make this one special. It’s awesome for me to be able to kick this series off in Seattle. The community here has always been really supportive and welcoming to us. -Seven Lions

Boreta, edIT, and Ooah came together around 2006, passing through various members until settling on this core trio of musicians. Together, they combined their different skills and aesthetics into the compellingly collaged whole that has become one of the most beloved live electronic acts, and distinctive recording artists, working today.

Simian Mobile Disco at the Neptune

Simian Mobile Disco at the Neptune @ Neptune Theatre | Seattle | Washington | United States

STG Presents Simian Mobile Disco (Live) at The Neptune!

When James Ford and Jas Shaw met at Manchester University in the late 1990s, they never imagined they’d end up creating a human synthesiser. But their earliest musical experiments together marked the inception of a constantly evolving creative project — one that would follow an unusual path, inventing entirely new formats for music-making along the way. Adding the rich vocals of The Deep Throat Choir to the techno framework of their fifth studio album, Murmurations, was just another transformation in a series of unexpected turns from Simian Mobile Disco.

Ford and Shaw have been connecting the human voice with electronic sound since they first founded the band in 2000 as Simian with Alex McNaughten and Simon Lord. Simian was, in Shaw’s words, about “trying to show you could make band music with songs and harmonies but be into Autechre too.” Named after “Simeon,” the home-made synth rig of early electronic experimentalists The Silver Apples, the band combined Crosby, Stills & Nash harmonies with hypnotic Krautrock rhythms, cosmic analogue synthesiser swooshes, and an unmistakable clubber’s sense of groove.

Ford and Shaw still have the same love of pure sound, human harmonies and electronic possibilities that they did when they first met at university, and it’s clear that their career path has allowed them to nurture this love and express it as vividly as ever before.

Louis Futon at Neumos @ Neumos | Seattle | Washington | United States

Neumos presents Louis Futon

Hailing from Philadelphia, 23 year old Tyler Minford AKA Louis Futon has risen to prominence over the course of only two years. Heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Louis Futon is the only producer ever to create official remixes for Logic, Mos Def, G-Eazy, Future, Wiz Khalifa, and more. Regardless of his influences, Louis rebelliously declares, “Genres don’t define me.” From creating Trap and Future Bass rooted originals to changing the very DNA of some of Hip-Hop’s biggest hits, Louis is able to defy boundaries. Typically consisting of bright melodies and rhythmic electro-tones carried by Hip-Hop drums, Louis Futon has keenly carved out a genre that ironically adheres to none.

Nectar & Solid Sound present Neon Indian (DJ Set) with Cuff Lynx

Neon Indian (aka Alan Palomo) has announced the long awaited follow up to 2011’s Era Extraña and this year’s standalone single “Annie.” Slated for release via Mom + Pop on October 16, VEGA INTL. Night School was conceived during a period of aesthetic reinvention for Palomo, as he retooled the lo-fi and spontaneous writing style he’d developed as Neon Indian by incorporating elements of the cleaner production values and dance oriented approach of his previous recording moniker VEGA, ultimately merging the two into one fast lane. Developed over a four year period, the album brims with funk-centric guitar lines, pronounced Balearic rhythms, and the most elaborate songwriting of his career.

Composed and recorded in a variety of locations including, but not limited to, the cabin aboard a cruise ship, DFA’s Plantain Studios in New York, Pure X’s practice space in Austin, Ben Allen’s studio in Atlanta, and mixed in Brooklyn with Alex Epton (XXXchange). Upon its completion, Alan noted “most of what I’ve learned about human nature in my twenties has happened after dark. People are just kind of more honest then. More deliberate. I like to call the places I go to Night Schools.”

The new album single “Slumlord” arrives alongside an inventive relaunch of his website as Nightschool.biz The site features an hotline (+1-512-643-VEGA) to receive and send audio of the song and a special voice greeting about the album, in addition to newly announced US tour dates and an album-preorder that comes with instant grat tracks “Annie” and “Slumlord.”
