Jacques Greene/FWD at Q [CHANCE OF RAIN EVENT]
Sep 28 all-day
Jacques Greene/FWD at Q [CHANCE OF RAIN EVENT] @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub with FWD Wednesdays and Chance of Rain present FWD: FWD is every Wednesday at Q Nightclub, bringing you top flight music by emerging artists from all over the world.

Jacques Greene: In fewer than two years, this enigmatic young producer from Montreal has given the current musical landscape progressively deeper ideas of what music can mean in the new decade. With a slew of remixes and original releases that haven’t skipped a beat, the talented songwriter has already collaborated with Radiohead, Katy B, and Jimmy Edgar. As new artists compete with each other so brutally for attention these days. Jacques simply toured. Playing top European venues such as Fabric Live, Plastic People, Panoramabar and major festivals like Sonar, MUTEK, the Bloc Weekender and Bozar Electronic Weekender, he steadily conquered each crowd with his undeniably potent songs and infectious demeanor. As the initial disbelief at how young he was, his love of heart aching RnB, his mysterious appearance, and what he uses to record begins to sink further and further back into the pages of Google, the initial hype will be followed by better and better music.

Lany at the Neptune
Sep 28 all-day
Lany at the Neptune @ The Neptune Theatre | Seattle | Washington | United States

STG Presents LANY: THE KINDA TOUR at The Neptune.

When the LA-based trio LANY first came together in 2014 their only aim was to work on a couple of tracks together, demo them, and have some fun in the process. Living on the West Coast, singer Paul was putting together a scratch band and played a handful of shows. But by the end of 2013, he says, he knew that something had to give. Which is where Les and Jake enter the picture. Paul conceived the idea of enlisting his friends’ help on that brief trip to visit college friends. What none of them knew was that the step they were about to take would turn out to be so significant. In the space of four days, the trio recorded two songs – songs that would lead, in what they say seemed like the blink of an eye, to the formation of LANY and, not long afterwards, to the band signing to Polydor Records. Six days after putting the tracks online the band found themselves fielding emails from major-label suitors. “The first question was always: ‘What else do you have? We want to hear more’,” says Paul. “And we went off and wrote ILYSB, and said: ‘This.’”

ILYSB marked the moment where LANY reached over the heads of the A&R community and started connecting directly with fans. Put simply, the song exploded online. You can see why. Encapsulating the band’s “Let it breathe” philosophy, ILYSB wafts over you like a summer breeze, the yearning in its lyrics contrasting with the euphoria conjured up by the characteristically minimalist soundscape. A similar alchemy occurs repeatedly in the songs LANY put online – a succession of singles, and the EPs I Loved You and Make Out – over the course of 2015. Again and again – on songs such as BRB, Made in Hollywood, Bad, Bad, Bad, Kiss and those earliest tracks, Walk Away and Hot Lights – you are taken back to the circumstances of the band’s formation. How they sensed, without having to say it out loud, that they were born to make music together.

It’s hard to believe, but, until very recently, that magic was being made in a one-bedroom apartment in LA, the three friends sharing the same room, with barely enough space to swing a cat, never mind set up any recording equipment. But that’s also in keeping with LANY’s approach. The music comes first; the band’s domestic circumstances, well, they can keep for another time. Moving to LA was, they all agree, a crucial step. They weren’t abandoning their roots, they stress; but it was important for them to get out of their comfort zone.

They’re not chin-stroking purists or too-cool-for-school fantasists – on the contrary, they’re proud of the fact that they studied music, and nailed the multiple instruments they all play, at college. In the same spirit, they’re happy to share a room if it means they can pursue their musical dreams, on their own terms. “How we started was, we were friends,” says Jake, “but we were also just fans of each other. I always thought Les was the bomb, and that Paul was the coolest guy ever. So it was like, ‘Ok, we seem to sort of love each other! Let’s do something.’”

And they did. Something called LANY. Making music that aims an arrow at your heart. Writing beautiful songs with swashes of synth, spare percussion, echoes of prime 1980s FM pop, of early-1990s R&B, of new-wave electronica. Combining melody and lyrics to put down roots in your head, and capture your heart. Recorded in a tiny room on an ancient laptop. Creating songs that are devastating and beautiful, in a way that you can’t quite explain. There’s an idea. –Dan Cairns

CHANCE OF RAIN FESTIVAL at Various Venues @ Various Venues, Seattle

Chance of Rain in its inaugural year is proud to present a fresh concept of urban-influenced art, music, and fashion to the greater Seattle and NW region for our 2016 program! We have pulled together a crew of unprecedented talent to set the groundwork for creating this ambitious endeavor, and we are looking forward to establishing Chance of Rain as a staple of Seattle’s ever-expanding and formative cultural landscape. The first installment will take place September 28 – October 2, 2016, rain or shine.

Expect to see showcase-oriented events, as we are working with local music labels and production companies in an effort to bring the Seattle electronic community together to celebrate and show our best while drawing in national and international acts. Supporting crews and labels include: Bottom Forty, Bounce Brunch, Decibel Festival, False Prophet, Flammable, Grounded, Institution, Lost Boys, Peloton Musique, Shameless, Studio 4/4, Uniting Souls, Viva Recordings and more TBA. We are also proud to announce our venue partners: Q Nightclub, Crocodile, Re-bar, Monkey Loft, and the Islander Yacht. We are adding more artists and showcases to our roster daily.

We are approaching this year’s forecast with confidence, holding the creative spirit of Seattle at the forefront by paying close attention to establishing relations within our crew, venues, sponsors and the community. Sep 29 all-day
Derrick May with Nordic Soul at Q [CHANCE OF RAIN EVENT] @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub with Studio 4/4 and Chance of Rain present

DERRICK MAY: The future was discovered long ago. More than 30 years have passed since Derrick May and best friends Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins attended Belleville High just outside of Detroit, Mich. The three teenagers would change the world forever by inventing a futurist approach to dance music and sound design that they would call Techno. Referred to as the “Miles Davis of Techno”, Derrick May has worked with acts like Depeche Mode, recorded legendary cornerstone tracks like “Strings of Life”, founded the iconic label Transmat, created music for films and video games, and for two years, produced one of the most respected festivals in the world, Detroit’s iconic, “Movement.”

NORDIC SOUL: Decibel founder and Studio 4/4 co-founder, Sean Horton returns to the NW to play a special Studio 4/4 showcase. As curator of Decibel, Rolling Stone magazine placed Horton No. 43 on it’s list of most important figures in EDM in 2014. Decibel Festival, in many ways, put the NW on the global map for electronic music. We’re ecstatic to have Nordic Soul back playing at the night that he helped build with both his curation and his ability as a resident DJ.

Fisherman & Hawkins/TRANCE ALLIANCE at the Underground
Sep 30 all-day
Fisherman & Hawkins/TRANCE ALLIANCE at the Underground @ The Underground | Seattle | Washington | United States

Seattle Trance Alliance presents:

Fisherman & Hawkins – Coldharbour Records/Shulz Management Group: Fisherman & Hawkins (Isaac Vissers and Rob Koopmans) have already been in the ‘E.D.M’ (Electronic Dance Music) scene for a number of years. Late in 2011 Fisherman & Hawkins was born, they realised there was a great level of understanding between them combined with complementary production qualities, making it the natural step to form the now fast-rising duo. The boys debut original titled ‘Perlas’ saw them collaborate with highly respected Mark Sixma, receiving support from across the globe with its release on Armada’s sub-label ‘Captivating Sounds’.

Another rip-roaring track ‘Nightshift’ was the next result. If they needed affirmation of Nightshift’s impact, they received it in the form of Markus Schulz immediately signing it to his imprint ‘Coldharbour Recordings’. The buzz surrounding this release was immense after Markus had aired it several times his radio show ‘Global DJ Broadcast’.
The demand for a follow-up was instant, as dust begun to settle from the previous release, this dynamic Dutch duo delivered ‘Apache’. It was first received by the crowds of infamous ‘Scream’ release parties in Miami and New York, as well as Toronto’s ‘Labour of Love’, the response was resounding and can only be described as a ‘game-changer’.

A few months later saw them secured appearances on Markus Schulz’s ‘World Tour Best of 2012′ compilation and KhoMha’s ‘Coldharbour Presents’, as well as airing multiple times on ‘A State of Trance’ radio show. Apache was set to trail-blaze Prague’s Transmission in January, as well as the upcoming ASOT 600 , having now been on rotation for 6-months in a host of the worlds most renowned DJ sets. With a monthly podcast on the horizon, Isaac and Rob are ready to connect with the ‘Apache Warriors’ and the world, whilst sharing their own take on modern day Trance!

Greetings Tribe!! On behalf of Our Hive, we are proud to present to you, the Royal Inception of Bass, Bees & Frequencies! We’ve been hard at work pollinating, germinating, and manifesting our goals of bringing Bees to the people and people to the Bees. This marks the official start to a Bee-autiful collaborative effort in cross pollination, to the fullest extent imaginable. We hope to inspire within you, a new desire to connect with and nurture your relationship with mother Earth, the Bees; as well as with yourself and ALL living things. This project is of utmost importance, not only for us; but for the Bees and all of Humanity. One in three bites of food that each human eats depends on pollinators, depends on bees. Literally, one third of our entire global food source depends upon the survival and success of our little helpers. In 2015, the United States alone lost nearly HALF of all its honeybee hives. That equates to a 44.1% population crash. This, my friends, is a colossal problem, yet there is hope on a local and tangible level.

All proceeds from this Fund-Raising event will be going back into the Hive to financially support the goal of gifting bee hives to those that want them but don’t have the financial ability to acquire one. Expect a real treat for your ears, because we are incorporating the unimaginably bossy, Nautilus Sound System for this Event. We will also be exploring various aspects of Energy, Frequency, and Vibration in the form of interactive displays demonstrating the effects they have on physical matter. We invite you to join us as we embark upon a journey thru Time and Space, Bees and Bass, and resonate on the Highest of Frequencies .

Audien at Foundation

Audien at Foundation @ Foundation Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Elevate Saturdays: Audien

Relieve yourself from the stresses of your everyday life and lift your nightlife experience to the level you deserve. Elevate your senses and your expectations! This is Elevate Saturdays. This is nightlife reimagined.

About Audien: In the middle of a global explosion of Electronic Dance Music, a genre that thrives in the most exclusive nightclubs of the world’s cosmopolitan cities, a prodigious producer has emerged from the unlikeliest of places. The small seaport town of Mystic, Connecticut, has been the home of Audien (AKA Nate Rathbun) for his entire life, and it’s in a small apartment in Mystic where Audien began creating music in 2008. Using a very basic set up, and a secret cocktail of plug-ins, Audien worked diligently to hone his craft. By age 17, while his friends were either preparing college applications or teeing up jobs, Audien began to test the waters by sending his unsolicited music out to producers, labels & bloggers. Though confident in his sound, Audien carefully managed his expectations, suspecting it was unlikely that he’d hear back from a random demo submission. An enthusiastic response came, however, from Flashover Recordings, the trance label owned by beloved Dutch Producer/DJ Ferry Corsten. Audien’s single “Rise & Shine” was released, and soon thereafter he was off to the races.

Kaytranada at the Showbox Sodo
Oct 1 all-day
Kaytranada at the Showbox Sodo @ Showbox Sodo | Seattle | Washington | United States

KEXP & Showbox present Kaytranada: 99.9% Tour

Born in Haiti and raised in the city of Montreal, Canadian artist Kaytranada has experienced an explosive rise in the past couple of years with his irresistible production and live sets, but the hard work and success did not happen over night. Before touring the globe and amassing millions of hits online with his series of beloved tracks and mixes, the young man came up as a true disciple, absorbing hip hop and RnB culture since his childhood and finding ways to make the music his own.

Since the age of fourteen, when he first began to DJ and the following year when his brother introduced him to music production software, his output has been relentless. As he explains, “after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn’t stop making beats,” pumping out a beat a day for the next couple of years and soon after self-releasing a series of EPs and beat tapes that quickly began to expand his reach. Official releases on HW&W and Jakarta Records soon spread his name like wildfire and some instant-classic remixes by the likes of Missy Elliot, Janet Jackson, TLC, Danny Brown and others have cemented his reputation and his sound; an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to Dilla’s, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines.

In the past year, he was approached by Brodinski to drop the single “Free Things In Life” on the hotly-tipped French label Bromance, has headlined tours in Europe, Australia and North America, and released his newest single and video “At All” which has already conquered dance floors worldwide and introduced his face to the world with an unforgettable video. Now, as he continues to bridge the gap between the dance world and hip hop/RnB.

KEXP, Do206, and BuildStrong present Manatee Commune – LP Release Party with Maiah Manser + jamie blake + Dream Journal

Manatee Commune, a.k.a. Grant Eadie, began in the misty trees Bellingham, Washington. Combining textures of the rainy woods and the windy seas of the Pacific Northwest with the calming mood of clean surfy guitar licks and rolling arpeggiated sine waves, Manatee Commune seeks to capture the atmosphere of taking a thoughtful, self-reflecting stroll through the forest. Bright, down tempo percussion placed neatly under pleasant, classically influenced viola melodies make his music both easily listenable and complex.

CHANCE OF RAIN FESTIVAL at Various Venues
Oct 2 all-day
CHANCE OF RAIN FESTIVAL at Various Venues @ Various Venues, Seattle

We know that we have big shoes to fill with the hiatus of Decibel Festival, and we salute the many long years it took cultivating the Decibel program and brand (and many of us were involved in that). For Chance of Rain’s inaugural festival, we are focused on building a presence, team, and approach rooted in community and co-creation that lays the groundwork for growth and development in the years to come. By setting a concept into motion that includes art and fashion, interspersed with a carefully curated music lineup, Chance of Rain intends to inspire, entertain, and amuse. We invite you to join us! Festival passes are on sale now.

Gina Turner & Porkchop at the Monkey Loft [CHANCE OF RAIN EVENT] @ Monkey Loft | Seattle | Washington | United States

The B̶r̶e̶a̶k̶f̶a̶s̶t̶ “Brunch” Club: This year as Decibel Festival takes a step back, we all get to sleep in a little bit before hitting that Monkey Roof for some daytime festival vibes in celebration of the inaugural Chance of Rain. Therefore breakfast, has moved to brunch as our dance party starts at noon and will go until 10p…RAIN OR SHINE!! Plus Yo Yo Yoga will be presenting Divine Movement from 10a-12p with special guest yoga instructor Gina Turner (Divine Movement, NYC), Tim Rothschild (Divine Movement, NYC) and Recess (live DJ).

Featuring Special Guest DJs:

GINA TURNER (Defected, Sound Pellegrino, NYC): Gina Turner is the ultimate multi-hyphenate. Raised in New York City, Gina Turner is a yoga teaching, internationally touring, multi-label releasing DJ, producer, radio host, new mother and label boss. To successfully balance all aspects of her life, Gina was certified with her 300-hr YTT through Yoga Alliance certified Frog Lotus International, with a specific certification in Vinyasa Flow. Gina is also a certified Prenatal Yoga Instructor with a longtime passion for Ashtanga and Inyengar Yoga. Falling in love with house and techno music at a young age, Gina would go to legendary clubs like Shelter and Soundfactory NYC with her fake IDs. Early on Gina began her career as a Boston radio DJ. She’s hosted shows on WERS, WECB, Scion Radio, iHeartRadio and currently hosts on Sirius XM’s BPM and Electric Area stations. Throughout the course of her career Gina Turner has released on numerous labels including Ultra Music, Nervous Records, Ministry of Sound, Mixmash Records, Pssst, Defected, Snatch!, Sound Pellegrino and her own self-started imprint, Turn It Records. Recently Gina has been named “Best NY DJ” by the Village Voice. After a brief break from touring the globe, with the birth of her first daughter, Gina is now back to her yoga teaching, prodigious producing and club smashing ways.

PORKCHOP (Desert Hearts, LA): There’s a wild Jungle, full of crazy freaks, beats and treats….a Jungle bursting with the sound of techno and booty movin bass…where the tribe leaders know no limits and the wilder, the better. And deep within that Jungle came the wildest freak of them all…Porkchop…Jungle tribe leader Mikey Lion is an innovator of his tech-house sound, and it was inevitable that his little brother and best friend Porkchop followed in his lead. After being introduced to the ever inspiring duo Daft Punk in 2007, Porkchop began his lifelong love affair with electronic music. Shortly after, a trip to Barcelona sparked a change in Mikey and Porkchop’s ever evolving musical tastes. This new tech-house sound was emerging in all the house music capitals of the world and it changed Porkchop’s style and sound for good. The brothers began their quest to live, eat, sleep and breathe techno. His deep seated techno roots eventually evolved into a shared love for anything tech, including his signature tech-house sound, those undeniable bootylicious beats he plays so well. Everything from his deep melodic sunrise sounds to his dark late night techno have officially become Porkchop’s signature sound. Jungle’s eventual pairing with San Diego’s purveyor of all things deep and sexy, aka Lovelife, spawned a mega family of tech house-deep house-techno loving Jungle lovers. That’s a whole lotta love, and Porkchop is at the center of it all.

Chloe at Rebar [3 HOUR SET!]
Oct 7 all-day
Chloe at Rebar [3 HOUR SET!] @ Rebar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Hunt & Gather presents EPIC. Think about the last time you went out and heard something (or someone) new. When you were entranced, surprised, intrigued, delighted by what was coming out of the speakers. When you ditched the crowd at the bar and found a new one on the dancefloor. When you forgot what time it was, what year it was, when you stayed out later than you thought you would because you couldn’t bear to miss the next record, or the next few. The best DJs live and breathe music all day long, but you only get to hear them for an hour at a time. It’s time to change that. At Epic, it’s all headline. Every month, talented locals and visiting guests will take over the whole Re-Bar, for the whole night, so you can hear what they’re all about. Not just what they can find the time to play in a one-hour slot, but what they’d play for you and your friends in their living room. Not just the hits, but the inspiration behind them. Open to close sets are a true test of any DJ and a challenge that most live for. They are a chance for the DJ to immerse the dance floor in the groove, shift the focus across the full experience and tell a complete story.

Chloe Harris: One of Seattle’s most beloved electronic music producers, and co-head of Further Records, takes control of our night this October as the weather cools down and we settle into the fall. Those who remember Chloe before she made experimental synth music as Raica can reminisce about the days she toured the globe with John Digweed and had long running residencies in Seattle. While these days Harris’s ‘Raica’ shows are performed with live analog synths, we are humbled to see her return to the decks at EPIC for a full night of sonic bliss.

A Bounty Hunter Masquerade Ball: Star Wars themed Halloween costume party. We have located the Rebel BASSment and are issuing the coordinates to all the mercenaries and bounty hunters across the galaxy near and far far away… It’s time to get dark and dirty with an event for the darker side of the force. We have sent bounty out on an all star list of west coast veterans as well as some of the most exciting up and coming dj’s to perform together under one roof. Good luck entry participants, this will be the centerpiece to your Star Wars collection at home for all your friends and family to enjoy!

Neumos presents Audion

It’s been going on for more than a decade: Under cover of darkness, Matthew Dear slips out of his pop auteur guise and exorcises his demons on the dancefloor through an elusive alter-ego, Audion. Over the years, Dear has steered its sound from grime-flecked minimalism to sinewy funk to restless floor-fillers, but the project’s core ideals remain constant: a manic forward momentum, eye-popping visual aesthetic (created alongside longtime collaborator Will Calcutt), and dedication to high-class body music.

Golf Clap at Kremwerk
Oct 14 all-day
Golf Clap at Kremwerk @ Kremwerk | Seattle | Washington | United States

As Electronic Dance Music has exploded in popularity over the last several years, so have clubs, festivals, ticket prices, and egos along with it. In the beginning, dance music related events were held in underground, often intimate venues. It was about the music, and it was about each other. Gone are those days, seemingly. With every club and festival being so overcrowded and oversold, one begins to ask if it is even about the music anymore. We want to bring it back to its roots. We want to bring in top quality talent, at a small price in an intimate space. We want it to be about the music and we want it to be about you.

Noise Complaint is more than “another show”. It is a party for the people, by the people. An event where the music is the centerpiece – and a small, intimate venue creates a vibe that rises above all. Join us on this journey, become part of our family, and help us create an experience that seems far too gone any more. You can find us at Kremwerk in Seattle where we’ll be dancing to a wide range of some of the finest house and techno on the planet. Noise Complaint – WE HEAR YOU.

Noise Complaint and Kremwerk are proud to present:

Golf Clap [SEATTLE DEBUT!] (Country Club Disco, Simma Black): DJs; producers; club headliners; after-party enthusiasts: Golf Clap are Hugh Cleal and Bryan Jones, a Detroit duo with an unmatched passion for house music and a seemingly endless supply of studio and club-focused creativity. And with releases on some of the world’s most influential house labels already under their belts, along with a lauded Boiler Room session and beyond, they’re only just getting started. With roots in the Detroit underground, booking local and international DJs to play at their own parties, Golf Clap have established themselves as in-demand artists and performers in their own right, via an irresistible combination of hard work, talent and consistently being the last guys standing, wherever the party ends up.

Releases on Simma Black, their own Country Club Disco imprint, and Kerri Chandler’s Madtech have announced Golf Clap as a musical force to be reckoned with, however it’s behind the decks where they truly come into their own. They are regulars at esteemed clubs such as Output in New York, Primary in Chicago, and Grasshopper Underground in Detroit. They have also performed at Movement, Electric Forest, Mysteryland, and Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, and are adept at crafting highly creative, energetic sets across four decks: masters of live remixing, tweaking and layering up effects and of teasing out the music for maximum dancefloor impact. Whether they’re playing clubs, warehouse shows, or at an impromptu after-party – which they more than likely arranged themselves – the sheer love these guys have for playing records and making people dance is evident. Just ask Lee Foss, Shiba San or any of the other DJs who’ve shared the decks with them for a B2B session: Golf Clap can mix it with the very best of them.

As with every movement worth being a part of, Golf Clap’s self-made community started small: a group of like-minded artists and fans giving one another exactly what they needed to throw incredible parties. But as their profile has increased, word has spread both across the US and internationally. Go to any electronic music festival now and you’ll find a strong showing for their Country Club Disco merchandise and an ever-growing army of fans. 2016 has already seen the release of yet more essential Golf Clap material, including remixes for Simma Black and Sleazy G, original productions ‘All You Need’ and ‘Feel It’ on Country Club Disco and most recently their remix of Skapes ‘Deeper Love’. Add to this a flourishing gig schedule, including a European tour, and 2016 looks set to be a landmark year for the boys from Detroit.

LTJ Bukem at the Monkey Loft
Oct 14 all-day
LTJ Bukem at the Monkey Loft @ Monkey Loft | Seattle | Washington | United States

Kaos Theory presents a rare and intimate performance by the legendary drum and bass producer…

LTJ BUKEM – London, UK: When the man behind those wire rimmed glasses and that disarming smile writes his job description just what does he put? The man who took the drum and bass concept from a small venue off London’s Charing Cross Road to the nation’s superclubs and then onto the international stage? The geezer whose records launched breakbeat into a brand new galaxy of sound? Or maybe he just writes ‘Renaissance man for a digital age’. In truth LTJ Bukem is all of the above. Although he wouldn’t like to admit it, LTJ Bukem is the living embodiment of the post-acid house entrepreneurial creative spirit. He is a mild mannered energy flash whose panoramic musical vision has found success in every area he has explored. From running soundsystems to cutting up breaks at raves, from relocating the heart of breakbeat culture to redefining the spirit of drum and bass, the man known to his friends as Danny Williamson has sat at the forefront of breakbeat evolution, lighting the way with little more than a zest for life and a love of music.

DJ Jes at the Timbre Room @ Timbre Room (above Kremwerk) | Seattle | Washington | United States

Timbre Room and Mindshift Recs present Vinyl Night with DJ Jes. Mark your calendars and plan to join us on Saturday, October 15th, as we present DJ Jes (Fresca Recordings) here from Chicago for a special dj set. Vinyl Night 001 begins an ongoing series of events, which will focus on the art of vinyl dj’ing.

DJ Jes (Fresca Recordings, Tardis, NRK, Siesta, Made in Frankfurt, 4trk, Camouflage, Chicago Groove, IHR, Contaminated, Realestate, Afterhours, Skyline Selections, Immigrant Records, Catalyst Recordings, Tang, Concrete Music, Uncle P., Chicago): Born in Mexico and raised in Chicago, Jes has been exposed to the Chicago music culture since the early 80’s. It was very early on when Jes realized his passion for music and began working on his musical career. Growing up on the West side of Chicago, Jes saw his peers choosing a lifestyle of gangs and guns with daily activity of violence. It was then that Jes decided to lead a life of musical expression and lift himself to a higher state of being. Embracing his negative childhood exposure, Jes used that negative to propel his dreams and to fuel his drive to succeed. Twenty five years later, Jes is still continuing his path of musical creativity and has evolved into a professional Dj, Producer, and Business owner. His passion for music still burns bright within. The Chicago underground has been moved by DJ Jes for over twenty Five years and he has emerged as a leading Dj, Producer, and Remixer. Jes is an original house pioneer that played original house music and Techno Trax at Chicago’s infamous “The Warehouse”; and he continues to be an integral part of the underground electronic scene. Jes has the technical skills and musical talent to give us all the soulful energy that only music can communicate. While his style can be varied, his quality is never compromised. The recent venture of Jes’s label, fresca recordings, with its Twenty sixth release has received well deserved media and industry attention. Jes continues to showcase and collaborate with other talented producers world wide. Jes keeps himself and Fresca Recordings involved in the cultural arts in Chicago. Since the project’s inception, Jes has been an integral part of the musical aspects of these events bringing art and music together to create unique environments to propel the artistic aspect of our digital culture.

Oct 20 all-day
Will Clarke & Sage Armstrong/STUDIO 4x4 at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub presents Studio 4/4: From House to Progressive to Tech to Deep to Disco, this night is all about 4/4 dance music as interpreted and presented by members of Lost Boys, Decibel, Flammable, Inner Flight and Trashed. Every Thursday night at Q.

Will Clarke: Similar to many artists Will Clarke’s sonic palette comes from his experiences and influences home and afar. The roots of his sound stem from both his home town of Bristol, and his seasonal home in Ibiza, which have forged Will’s style; a style that fuses the best of Bristol’s bass elements with the upfront house music sensibilities of the white isle. Will Clarke is a talented, skilled, young producer who is making strides in the dance music business with his own sound and now his own label / events. He has an impressive list of quality productions and remixes that is growing month by month and a great track recordat his residencies and guest gigs.

Sage Armstrong: Sage Armstrong began making waves in the house music scene with his debut Dirtybird release, ‘What’s Yo Tempetcha?’. Grown in the south, he has been influenced by a multitude of different genres that continue to inspire his creative flow in the studio and on stage. He has created his own style by adding unique elements that give off a vibe of bouncy underground beats with original vocals. Sage continues making music with no creative boundaries after receiving support from some of his favorite Dirtybird artists like Justin Martin and the boss man himself, Claude VonStroke.

Brodinski at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

BRODINSKI: Love is in the air when Brodinski starts talking about music. Making music, playing music, sharing music, finding music, promoting music. Ever since young Louis Rogé decided to flunk university and turn Brodinksi into a full-time operation, it was his passion for unearthing and creating exciting new tunes that drove him forward. Ever since Brodi was the new kid on the block – the freshest thing coming from France since Pernod on the rocks, as they say – championed at a tender age by such heavyweights as Busy P., 2manydjs, Tiga (who baptised him ‘the dj’s dj’) and Erol Alkan, he made it his mission to share a healthy obsession with quality dance music with as much people possible.

The Orb at Neumos
Oct 26 all-day
The Orb at Neumos @ Neumos | Seattle | Washington | United States

Neumos presents The Orb: The Orb virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for early-morning ravers once the clubs closed their doors. The group popularized the genre as well, by appearing on the British chart show Top of the Pops and hitting number one in the U.K. with the 1992 album U.F.Orb. Frontman Dr. Alex Paterson’s formula was quite simple: he slowed down the rhythms of classic Chicago house and added synth work and effects inspired by ’70s ambient pioneers Brian Eno and Tangerine Dream. To make the whole a bit more listenable — as opposed to danceable — obscure vocal samples were looped, usually providing a theme for tracks that lacked singing. In 2016, the Orb celebrated the 25th anniversary of their classic debut full-length, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, by performing the album in its entirety at London venue Electric Brixton. The Orb continued to perform the album live during their subsequent U.K. tour, which also included material from their Kompakt-released COW / Chill Out, World!, described by the bandmembers as their most ambient release to date. ~ John Bush

Showbox presents CLASSIXX: Faraway Reach Tour

Music comes naturally to L.A. duo Classixx, childhood friends who began recording together in 2007, united by their mutual appreciation for shimmering melody, punk rock, disco and French house. When Classixx DJ, they do so with exceptional comprehension, a clear affinity for the music they play. There’s a kinship between the songs they select and their own original works, at once beaming, breezy and wistful, descendent from similarly pop-minded melancholics like Fleetwood Mac, Prince, and Alan Braxe.

Random Rab with Bluetech & Subaqueous at Nectar @ Nectar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Nectar & Solid Sound present:

RANDOM RAB – Ashland, OR & San Francisco, CA: Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful and unique contribution to sonic exploration. Often referred to as “The Master of Emotion” his music is patently beautiful and melodic. With diverse influences ranging from trip‐hop, classical and Arabic to bass driven compositions, his songs are considered anthemic and timeless. As a multiinstrumentalist and singer, his tracks are organic, uplifting and stand on their own as a distinct genre. Listeners of all types of music can find something they can relate to in his sound. There is no doubt that Rab understands a multitude of musical styles. He has been the front man of a heavy metal band, toured as a classical trumpet player, played bass in a country music band, was a scratch DJ for a jazz fusion project, was the singer for a rock band in Mexico and has collaborated with countless musicians of all styles. From acoustic performances in the Himalayas to rocking packed clubs in New York, Random Rab has found a way to connect with people of all kinds. With a dedicated fanbase born from the San Francisco underground, Random Rab has become a Burning Man legend known for his sunrise sets that have now become one of his most sought after performances. His current popularity can often be traced to his breakout album, The Elucidation of Sorrow.. This album firmly established him as a recognizable force in the electronic music scene. His latest and 4th album aRose, catapulted him into the state of momentum that is now taking hold internationally. Sometimes performing solo and at other times featuring collaborative musicians, the live experience is focused on a high quality translation of sound that is simultaneously sexy and psychedelic.

BLUETECH – Pahoa, HI: Crawling behind his living room soundsystem listening to classical music with headphones on when he was 4, was when he first fell in love with music. He left his body and traveled through the landscapes of sound. It all began with a piano. His music continually grows. He’s come full circle in many ways, with new releases this year having a strong ambient quality to them that is reminiscent of his early work. It has evolved though; the musical geometries unfold in different ways, and move in different directions.

At This Never Happened, we invite you into a space where the only thing that matters are the people in that room, the music and the magic that happens when those things interact. An event where the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space. We get that this might be hard in our smartphone obsessed times, so we will be politely policing it on the night, but it will be worth it – I promise. This experience we share together may, by 2016 standards, have never happened. But those who dare will always know – something special did happen here. I look forward to building this concept with you, Daniel (Lane 8).

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Elevate Saturdays: Trippy Turtle

Relieve yourself from the stresses of your everyday life and lift your nightlife experience to the level you deserve. Elevate your senses and your expectations! This is Elevate Saturdays. This is nightlife reimagined.

About Trippy Turtle: Trippy was born on a cold beach somewhere in northern europe. From an early age he was exposed to beautiful skinnydipping scandinavian women and rnb-music on wack boomblasters, influences you can still hear in his music today. And the charming young tortoise quickly became a true ladies turtle. One warm summer night in the middle of mating season, Trippy was caught in a fishing net and came aboard a fishing boat from Jersey. Talking his way out of becoming a part of today’s stew, he became friends with the crazy chef Molly which fed him with all sorts of crazy things for her entertainment. It is widely believed that this caused the trippyness of young Trippy. After many weeks, the fishing boat arrived in Jersey and our hero started his long journey to the other side of the street. On his journey he met many other cool party-animals and together they formed the infamous gang “FoFoFadi Foodchain”. Rumors are that our trippy turtle had terrible pronounciation and the gang was originally called “No More Sardines”. One day it all changed… Trippy got into a fight with Disco Duck and Disco tossed him into a wall. The sounds the shell made shocked the whole crew. Turtle immediatly called his mother and she confessed his long lost father Roland was indeed… an 808. With his new found roots, Trippy told his friends and family that he wanted to do music. And so he did. The gang scraped together all the sardines they could get their hands on and traded them for an old squeeky macbook. They now take turns throwing Trippy at the macbook and record the outcome.

Jai Wolf: Sajeeb Saha lives in the middle ground between electronic music and hip-hop. He adopted the moniker Jai Wolf to make a break from a dubstep past, but the project garnered unstoppable buzz when he gave Skrillex’s “Ease My Mind” an Eastern makeover. The bootleg remix caught the dubstep auteur’s attention and got Jai Wolf signed to the OWSLA imprint. He’s since played Coachella and Bonnaroo and remixed Odesza. Three weeks after the upload of his latest, the sun-infused downtempo track “Indian Summer,” he’s garnered a million views and is currently in the iTunes Electronic Top 20.

Phutureprimitive with Acorn Project at Nectar @ Nectar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Nectar & Solid Sound present Phutureprimitive with Acorn Project

Phutureprimitive is the moniker of Bay Area producer and songwriter Rain. Early childhood photos reveal Rain sitting at the piano plinking keys, grinning from ear to ear… a true sign of things to come. Continuing his early fascination, Rain was later drawn to electronic music, inspired by its ability to combine the best of organically played instruments and the synthetic pleasures of sounds more exotic to the human ear. After beginning a DJ career in the 90s, Rain began incorporating the music he was making in his home studio into his DJ sets. That was all it took to trigger a full blown love affair with electronic music and the process of its creation… and Phutureprimitive was born.

Phutureprimitive’s music is best described as dripping wet love drops of nasty mind melting sonic bliss. Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms, groove heavy beats and warm, fuzzy bass lines. Often exploring a dark and dense palette, there is also a profound sense of tranquility and beauty, engaging the listener in hypnotic movement and often escalating into a full-on kinetic experience. Shimmering with cinematic qualities, his music ultimately speaks to the body, mind and soul.

Sonny Fodera with Walker & Royce/STUDIO 4x4 at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Sonny Fodera: Sonny Fodera’s journey as a producer began at the tender age of 16 when he was making Hip Hop, but it was not until the likes of Derrick Carter, Inland Knights and James Curd visited his homeland that his passion for four-four took firm shape. Fast forward in time and the budding 27 year old has stood shoulder to shoulder with his inspirational heroes of whom now all credit him for his dexterity both behind the decks and in the studio with Fodera receiving praise from some of the genres most established veterans, from Cajmere to Derrick Carter all the way to the ‘Godfather of House’ Frankie Knuckles.

Walker & Royce: “Walker & Royce” started when Sam and Gavin, having known each other in and out of the dance scene for years, finally began working together in 2011. As things usually go, it was a bit of luck that got them off the ground: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus noticed one of their very first releases, a remix of SAARID’s “Future Lately”, on Nervous Records. The result was the Crosstown Rebels EP “You’re Not Welcome” and with that, Walker & Royce was launched into the dance music spotlight.

Neumos presents Dragonette

It’s been two years since Toronto-based leftfield popsters Dragonette put out a full-length album – an eternity in Pop years. Though they’ve hardly been idle in that time. The touring around 2012 LP “Bodyparts,” coupled with their smash collaborations with French DJ Martin Solveig, saw them almost constantly continent-hopping, sometimes swinging from Paris to Manila in a single weekend. They did tours of the US with Major Lazer, Miike Snow and the Presets, played to a packed mid-day tent at Coachella, graced festival stages on five continents, and saw more of their native Canada than they had in their now decade-long history as a band.

Sweater Beats at Neumos @ Neumos | Seattle | Washington | United States

Neumos presents Sweater Beats: The Philippines and suburban Maryland aren’t exactly R&B or dance music hot beds, but they didn’t need to be for Antonio Cuna aka Sweater Beats to ingest both genres and spit out an exciting hybrid, melding the sensuality of contemporary R&B with the immediacy of dance music. Born in the Philippines, Cuna moved to Maryland, adapting to his new environment by engaging with music and skate culture. But it wasn’t long before R&B entered the picture, first as an obsession and later, while Cuna was at university in New York, as a creative outlet. Growing up in the 2000s, it’s no surprise that Cuna’s heroes include R&B producer mavens like Pharrell and Timbaland, as well as French dance music behemoths Daft Punk, but it’s how he’s filtered those influences into the ingenious sonic aesthetic, a sound equally fitting both the festival stage and bedroom play, that makes Sweater Beats such an unavoidably intriguing project.

Snakehips with AbJo at Neumos @ Neumos | Seattle | Washington | United States

Neumos presents Snakehips with AbJo: Since forming only 18 months ago, Snakehips have made their name with Hype Machine chart-topping remixes for Banks, The Weeknd, Bondax and Wild Belle, which between them have notched up more than 30 million plays on Soundcloud and YouTube. Last May, the mysterious production duo built on their early acclaim with On & On, a Radio 1-championed debut single that set out their signature sound, a sensual up-to-date take on old school R&B and hip hop. In time to usher in another summer and ahead of appearances at major festivals across the UK and abroad, Snakehips are ready to release their glorious, second single, Days With U, featuring Disclosure and Rudimental vocalist Sinead Harnett. With the vibe of long, hot, hazy days coursing through its veins, Days With U sounds both retro and fresh and as dreamily laid-back as it is dancefloor-friendly. Driven as much by melody as by hip hop beats and shimmering synths, it’s a song about heartbreak that, somehow, sounds resolutely life-affirming.
