Q Nightclub presents Forms featuring
Goldie: The first superstar produced by the breakbeat jungle movement, Clifford Joseph Price — better known by his stage name Goldie — popularized drum’n’bass as a form of musical expression just as relevant for living-room contemplation as techno had become by the early ’90s. Initially gaining exposure for his work as a graffiti artist, Goldie became one of the first personalities in British dance music, his gold teeth and b-boy attitude placing him leagues away from the faceless bedroom boffins that had become the norm in intelligent dance music. For the first time, England had a beat maestro and tough-guy head who could match the scores of larger-than-life hip-hop stars America had produced, and the high profile of drum’n’bass as the first indigenously British dance music made Goldie a figure of prime importance. Price also gained fame as an actor, appearing in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch and several other films, most notably the James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough.

Q Nightclub presents the Studio 4/4 four-year anniversary: From House to Progressive to Tech to Deep to Disco, this night is all about 4/4 dance music as interpreted and presented by members of Lost Boys, Decibel, Flammable, Inner Flight and Trashed. Every Thursday night at Q. It’s hard to describe how excited we are to celebrate the four-year anniversary of Studio 4/4 with The Black Madonna. It took years for our availability and her’s to line-up, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Veterans call her a “DJ’s DJ” because of her technical skill and ability to bring infectious joy to a crowd. We’re honored to host Mixmag’s Artist of the Year for the four year birthday of Studio 4/4.
The Black Madonna: A sublime technician behind the decks, The Black Madonna is known for fluent and dynamic vinyl sets, which span from disco to techno. And then of course, there’s her inimitable energy, an infectious joy and ability to connect with the room, which along with her skill has cemented her as a beloved regular and crowd favorite at revered venues such as Panorama Bar. Her DJ mixes for Beats In Space, Little White Earbuds and Bicep’s Rinse FM show remain highly regarded, selected from deep crates and executed with precision.
Okay.. Okay… before anyone gets worked up and offended please open your mind to a time way back whenever.. to way back wherever! Each Dancing w/ GIANTS party is intricately thought out in theme and concept to touch those attending in a slightly different way! This one is about honoring some of us like myself that have always been caught in the crosshairs of judgement by some based on my choices in musical scenes and entertainment. So let me address this title and what it means to me and some of the fellas on the panel!
“WEIRDO MUSIC!” It’s a play off the old terminology that was blasted at those that were invested somehow.. Either as a listener or player in music that perhaps some in their home communities didn’t care to pick up what hey we’re laying down! Everyone knows the history of where this thing called house music came from, but not all know the teasing some suffered for getting behind it by others not so with it. Basically it was called by those who weren’t “with it”… Weirdo Music.. So therefore I’m paying tribute to a time when like myself.. being one of those who was into it.. It wasn’t considered “cool”! Don’t get it twisted I’m equal parts hip hop head and fan of life bands of all genres. So I’m bringing together a cast of DJs that I know.. know what this means, because even though there is a percentage of crossover that is clearly evident today, that expression is still alive.. as some things just aren’t for everyone, and that goes for music as well. This group of “now local” – players are some of the guys that I have watched and admired.. not only for their talent as they play what my ears and feet agree to.. But it’s been their their ability to not just represent a musical culture, but share it with open arms without explanation and unwavering dedication.
There are also a few that I’m inviting over to play with those guys that have been wanting to take that leap to envelope E-styles into their formats as their fan base over the years has expanded and been influenced as well by the crossover in music as we all continue to witness even further blends of genres.. Just as much as the diversity of the listeners has grown right along with the scene.. I just want to recognize and honor as many as I can on this night for fighting the good fight! As always they will be playing whatever the hell they want for you.. I myself am Proud to be a Weirdo, and Proud to get weird with this group of talented artists and they will be getting as weird as they wanna be.. for anyone down to dance to “Weirdo Music!” It’s gonna be all over the place! So yeah you would be a fool to miss it. – Tommy

It’s hard to imagine the struggle and the long road ahead to recovery by those affected by this devastating hurricane season. I’ve decided to put a little house music get together next weekend to support All Hands Volunteers. One of the most sincere, generous and hardworking people I’ve ever met, Gabe Ossa has worked with this organization in the past. When he supports their cause, I knew it was something I could get behind. After some research, I can say that this is a great cause where transparency and impact can be seen. Join us for a night of amazing music. Donation is $10 at the door and 100% of proceeds will go to All Hands Volunteers. Donate to a great cause doing what we love to do. -Allen Oh

De:Fi, Track Killerz and The Underground Present a very special change to our bass nights. DISSONANCE IS NOW A LGBTQ/Anit-Bigotry friendly bass night and our first new show is headlined by none other than Seattle’s own SUPER SQUARE, JETPACK BRIGADE, TheReckShop B2B. DETONIZE and J. BIRNIE! What does this mean? It means that we have ZERO TOLERATION for: Racism, Sexism, Mysogny, Ableism, Homophobia,Transphobia or Rape Culture. This IS NOT a ‘gay’ night. This event wants to bridge the gap that occured over the last few years between that people who just love the music (gay, straight, raver or party lover) and the scene that has evolved into the burning dumpster fire of homophobia, douchebag haters, and enablers that is all too prevalent these days. But its more than that we want ALL peoples to come. Yes that means all the people who love bass but never cared about the bs. We want to heal together and make a new bass night thats bigger and better FOR ALL! Why? Because we want to take back our Bass culture! For every person that got called a queer for daring to go to the same shows as the brody bros wearing a dress or whatever awesome weird shit your into, this night for you. For every person that identifies as the gender they weren’t born who’s been ridiculed every time they tried to use the bathroom, this night is for you. And for every person that has suffered sexual violence and stopped loving it because they’re scared to even go to bass shows, THIS IS FOR YOU! YES YOU… COME RAGE YOUR FACE OFF TO HEAVY BASS WITH NO FEAR OF BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR WHO YOU ARE!

Q Nightclub presents HAUTE SAUCE featuring
Kittens: It takes an equal part talent, finesse, sass, and balls for a woman to get the right kind of attention in the ever competitive industry of young DJs and producers…Kittens has just that. With her vast knowledge of music and past as a dancer, Kittens (born Lauren Abedini) has been able to find a balance between low grinding electronic beats, heavy rap, and future beat music which has earned the support of some of the most influential artists of our time; including longtime mentor, Usher, Kid Cudi, Skrillex, Gaslampkiller, Salva, and A-trak who has her signed to his record label Fool’s Gold as well as championed her in every facet of her career.
Tom Kha: Already widely regarded as one of the world’s great soups, Tom Kha also works hard throwing bass music events in the Seattle area. After the success of the leftfield bass music bi-monthly SPECTRUM at the legendary Monkey Loft, as well as the mighty REDUX parties at Re-Bar, Tom Kha has kept the kitchen hot with a blistering series of one-offs, pop-ups and collaborations across the city of Seattle. Our goal is to sidestep the hype and instead focus on showcasing the best underground bass music. From established local, national and international headliners to a wide range of up-and-coming talent, Tom Kha Productions is dedicated to exploring the past, present, and future of bass music.
Paint (tsuruda x Huxley Anne): A progressive electronic duo, formed in 2016 by seasoned beatsmith Tsuruda & experimental artist Huxley Anne, PAINT incorporates all aspects of both member’s creativity. Their style draws largely on abstract hip-hop, jazz, bass, and grime influences, but unites these elements into seamlessly painted soundscapes that stand out in the modern sea of electronic music. Their powerful rhythms, colored nuances, and expressive lead synth tones ignite in the PAINT live show, where you can often find the duo mashing custom visuals together while spinning tracks back to back. Following the release of their Blood EP in January 2016, PAINT splattered onto the West Coast bass scene with support from G Jones & Penthouse Penthouse, while simultaneously gaining support from European heavy-hitters Noisia, Feed Me, and Ivy Lab. The duo continues to explore a seemingly infinite field of emotion while painting with an electronic kaleidoscope of visuals and music.
Doctor Jeep: Doctor Jeep is a 27-year old Brooklyn resident known to most as Andre Lira. While attending college in Boston he quickly gained notoriety as one of the city’s most eclectic young selectors, mixing everything from drum & bass, dubstep, and uk garage to techno, electro, and classic house. With DJ sets mixing the past, present, and future of dance music in some of America’s best clubs, and festival appearances at Outlook, Bass Coast, Bonnaroo, and EDC, he has proven to adapt to any vibe and make it his own style of party. Production-wise, Jeep’s music has been described as “a style somewhere between the forward-thinking bass mutations of Cosmic Bridge, the grinding 808 electro of Swamp81, and the breakbeat-heavy sound of early 90′s UK rave music.” With releases on a wide range of international labels such as NYC’s Trouble & Bass (R.I.P.), Vancouver’s Aufect Records, and Nottingham’s Tumble Audio, and support from tastemaking DJs such as Claude VonStroke, Shy FX, Hannah Wants, J:Kenzo, Machinedrum, and My Nu Leng to name a few, the future looks bright for this multifaceted producer.

Noise Complaint: Gone is the party where the music and the people at the party mattered more than making money. As Electronic Dance Music has exploded in popularity over the last several years, so have crowds and ticket prices along with it. In the beginning, events were held in underground, often intimate venues. It was about the music, and it was about each other. Noise Complaint is taking it back to its roots, bringing the people quality, dancefloor focused house and techno. We’re bringing in huge talent – DJs and producers that are well known and respected but that we also personally vibe with. We’re doing this at a small price, and in an intimate space. It’s about the music for us, it’s about the party and the vibe and the memories and friends you will make. Every Noise Complaint should be the best party you’ve been to since…the last Noise Complaint.
Yolanda Be Cool: In a world of inflated egos and outrageous demands, Yolanda Be Cool, aka Bondi boys Andy and Matt, have kept their feet on the ground and let their music do the talking. The unavoidable worldwide number one breakthrough track, “We No Speak Americano” sold over 5 million copies and amassed over 200 million youtube views. Their critically acclaimed album “Ladies and Mentalmen” released on DIM MAK in 2013 featured indigenous Australian icon Gurrumul, house royalty Crystal Waters and Barbara Tucker, soul legend Betty Wright and US up n coming rap star Nola Darling. They even co-own/A&R for the seminal Australian record label Sweat It Out, home to artists such as RÜFÜS, What So Not, Motez and many more.
Breach: 2017 was another year of evolution for Breach, the House and Techno based alias of Ben Westbeech. It has seen the continued growth of his own label ‘Naked Naked,’ on which he has released an impressive selection of music from Midland, Dark Sky, Dusky, Lorca and Viers. There’s new music forthcoming from J.Tijn and Maison Sky and of course from the man himself. The most recent offering being the two track collaboration (‘Liberty’ & ‘Avocado’) with Breach and his close friend Cinnaman which kicked off 2015.
Todd Edwards: House legend, Daft Punk collaborator, and Grammy winner Todd Edwards is known for his hypnotic collage of cut-up samples over swung beats and lively disco-flavored baselines. Credited as one of the godfathers of UK garage, his four-to-the-floor beats have earned him a passionate following. In addition to his own legendary productions, Edwards has remixed Daft Punk, Phoenix, Justice, Matthew Dear, Hot Chip, Spank Rock, Boris, Appaloosa, Klaxons, Surkin, Robin S, Zoot Woman, St. Germain, and Dimitri From Paris. Edwards is the only artist Daft Punk has collaborated with twice: he sang, co-wrote, and co-produced “Face to Face” from Daft’s 2001 album ‘Discovery’ and “Fragments of Time” from Daft’s 2013 album ‘Random Access Memories,’ for which he received a Grammy.

GANZ: Dutchman Jordy Saämena has already achieved and accomplished many things. As a child he first became conscious of the wider musical world when listening to hip hop, old soul and garage and soon began drumming. It was a desire to create the full song, not just the bottom end, that turned Jordy into production. Now, more than eight years later, he has switched with great skill and style between a number of different genres. In 2012 the musician and producer began studying Electronic Music at The Conservatory in Haarlem and soon became infatuated with bass. This is no surprise given Jordy’s Moluccan heritage, a culture that is known for laying down exciting rhythms on traditional local drum, the Tifa. It was at this moment that he dreamt up new moniker GANZ (also known as GANZ GVNZ, IAMGANZ or GANZEE) and began crafting the creations we hear today. This music he makes, inspired by peers like Rustie and Hudson Mohawke, is a melange of beats and bass, R&B smoothness with hip hop rhythms.
Q Nightclub presents Studio 4/4 featuring

Billy Kenny: British producer, DJ and engineer Billy Kenny is widely accustomed to the lower, more aggressive frequencies in the amalgamation between UK Garage, House and Techno. Hailing from Leeds, Billy now resides just across the channel in Germany although his sound still remains more Radio 1 than Berghain. This prolific writer now has to be seen as one of the most influential ambassadors in Germany for the sound he represents, despite the fact that over the last year he’s been touring more than ever across four continents.
Seattle Trance Alliance presents The Sounds Of Trance:Jordan Suckley
JORDAN SUCKLEY: As a born perfectionist and skilled artist, a remarkable and undeniably swift revolution marks the past few years of UKs Jordan Suckley. Going from one of the scenes most promising newcomers and a roar in the underground to playing the worlds high-end clubs, events and festivals, launching his very own Damaged Records and hitting the top of the charts with originals and remixes, is a mere reflection of the hard work this guys put into it. Leaving the rising star status behind, following his instinct and creating a path of his own, sees Jordan Suckley set a new standard for the next generation in electronic dance music. Looking back on the high praise and one-to-watch titles given to him by industry peers like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold, Jordan Suckley has become a name that stands on its own merits. Years after holdingresidency on the worlds most revered dance music station – BBC Radio 1 –and releasing his studio work on labels like Armada Music, Garuda, SpinninRecords, Perfecto Fluoro, Vandit, Black Hole and Ultra, hes established his own outlet. Launched in February 2014, Damaged Records made it to Beatports Top 15 of best-selling trance labels within its first year, clocking up no less than twelve Top 10 hits and various number ones. With sold-out Damaged events taking place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Belfast, Toronto, Milan and even Down Under, its clear that Suckleys vision is shared and welcomed by music lovers well beyond his home territory. Though Damaged Records leaves plenty of room to support upcoming talent, its also home to Jordans studio work. The labels released Suckleys successful Contaminated, Aztec Curse, Droid and Medic. The latest highlight includes his monster remix for Tiësto classic Suburban Train, causing a storm in the sets and shows of every major trance act. Topping Beatports Trance and entering the main chart in one go lets you know why Jordan has been given the task to remix the originals of Armin van Buuren, Paulvan Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Aly & Fila, Simon Patterson and John OCallaghan. Ensuing gigs at Tomorrow World, EDC Las Vegas, A State of Trance, Future Sound of Egypt, Global Gathering UK, Cream Ibiza and tours in Australia, Asia and Argentina, the next few months await him with plenty more headliner slots. Each promoter knows that when booking him, theyre in for an exceptional experience – incorporating a showcase of his scratching skills. As Damaged Records continues to grow, his sounds spread and name echoes across the scene. Resting on his laurels is no way to go for Jordan Suckley though, so youd best prepare to be blown away – again and again.

The Spider Ferns kick off their fall tour at the legendary Re-bar nightclub accompanied by Natasha Kmeto and her full band !!! with dj R-Pal to vibe you all night ..
THE SPIDER FERNS (Seattle-Bow, WA – Lo Flux Media): The Spider Ferns create dark, sophisticated electronic pop with heavy downtempo beats and striking, seductive vocals. Their latest release ‘Safety’ is an intoxicating opium dream —a powerful and entrancing call to ponder the human condition, pulling you into a universe where time and presence dissolve into transcendent beauty. Laden with swirling guitars, driving beats and luminous vocals, The Spider Ferns sound recalls the denizens of dark-pop Portishead and Massive Attack, interlaced with post-punk pulses reminiscent of Siouxie And The Banshees and the modern, synth-driven stylings of The XX and Phantogram. “Their music combines a slick, trip-hop nostalgia with a dreamy Northwest haze; —like if Portishead lived deep in the forests of Washington State.” -Decoder Magazine.
NATASHA KMETO (Portland, OR – Riot Act Media) with Damon Boucher on keys + bass and Donovan Edwards on back up vocals + keys: Natasha Kmeto is an electronic producer/vocalist dedicated to the art of emotional engagement. Writing, producing, and performing all her material, Kmeto combines her sensuous voice with a dancefloor ethic, exuding a thoughtful physicality that rewards openness and vulnerability. Stylistically she explores the lines intersected by RnB, soul, and dance music, built using an electronic toolkit developed by years of discipline. She’s most at home when on stage, singing to her fans’ hearts and playing to their bodies. Natasha’s artistic growth has accelerated after years of hard work. She’s at her most self-realized on her last LP Inevitable, an album that deals with matters of love and a newly affirmed personal outlook. She has increasingly embraced her identity as a queer female, letting it interweave with and inform her talents as a musician. Like anyone undergoing the lifelong process of self-acceptance, Natasha’s growth is expected continue in inventive ways. On her newest single release, she delves deeper into issues of feminism and queerness: “Pour Down” serves as an anthem for empowerment while “Free For Tonight” explores the concept of safe space.

Seattle Trance Alliance presents The Sounds Of Trance: MarQ’s bday party, featuring
Standerwick (Seattle debut): It has been quite the compelling story for this once described enigmatic music producer and DJ from Bristol in the United Kingdom, but there is nothing mysterious about the success STANDERWICK has achieved inside the world of Dance Music to date and in such a short space of time. From his early years in song composition stemming from a professional song writing background with Zomba Music Publishing over 2 decades ago, his decision to move from writing Rock Music to Electronic Dance Music was a decision well made. STANDERWICK has had a blistering track record in recent years which currently stands at 5 Beatport Trance No.1s, 15 Top 5s and 6 Top 10s. He is also ranked as the 9th best-selling Trance producer on of all time (Beatstats Jan17) and currently the No.1 Selling Beatport artist in the last 3 months which is all remarkable considering this has been achieved in just over 4 years. His familiar style of production has seen him remixing tracks for Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, John OCallaghan amongst numerous other high profile artists with his remix for Gareth Emery Ft. Wayward Daughter Reckless being voted as the 2nd best track of 2016 by the listeners of Armin van Buurens, A State of Trance radio show.
2016 was without doubt one of STANDERWICKs most prolific years so far as a performing DJ with appearances across the globe at some of the worlds biggest festivals and events including, main stage at A State of Trance Toronto, A State Of Trance, Utrecht, EDC Las Vegas, UK and Orlando, Dreamstate Los Angeles, New York & San Bernardino, Tomorrowland, Belgium and Cream, Ibiza. With all these high profile shows now under his belt and recent tours of China, Australia, North America and Japan, all bare testament to his story of not only being a successful music producer but as evidence clearly suggests, one of the top rising and sought after Trance DJs in the world right now. With a reputation on the dance floor as a DJ who consistently delivers the absolute maximum when it comes to energy and dynamics during his sets, and his recent introduction of STANDOUT Live bringing live elements to his shows, STANDERWICK is firmly positioned to continue his rise through the global DJ ranks this year.
2017 is already looking like being another huge year for STANDERWICK with new music including an original track with Jonathan Mendelsohn and remixes for some of the industries big guns. His release with Gareth Emery and Haliene Saving Light is already poised to become one of the biggest tunes of 2017 with well over 2 million plays on Spotify and notably reaching number 1 on the main Beatport Top 100 chart making it the first Trance genre track to achieve this in over a decade. With preparations now underway to introduce exciting new ideas and concepts both on tour and in the studio, and his recent signing to Armada Music as an exclusive recording artist, 2017 has already become one of the most significant and defining years in STANDERWICKs music career so far.

Nectar & Solid Sound present CloZee with Subaqueous & Pressha
Being based simultaneously in Toulouse, France and on stages across the world makes this electronic musician stand out. With inspirations far afield from music – a painting, the weather, a dream – in her craft, Chloé Herry’s derivations are difficult to trace. Under the broad structure of electronic and bass music, and informed by sound the world over, Clozee finds her best fit in World Bass’ corner.
CloZee has performed on many continents: from Coachella to India, on four US Tours, and everywhere around her native France. She is a standout on the roster of her labels, Gravitas Recordings & Otodayo Records. Followers in many languages drive streams counted in millions. But art’s ability to transport others is this talented producer’s special magic – manifest whenever someone presses play.
In the way the clean curve of a Japanese roof is understated and exotic, CloZee pulls her power from a bold simplicity. Her classical guitar roots allow her an informed, melodic space that draws influence from flamenco to edIT of The Glitch Mob. This melting pot of instrumentation and cinematic flair puts listeners in a mood to move, with international crowds now cultivating the evolution of her genre. Chloé says she rarely lays down only electronic sounds. Her favorite sources are organic and real.
To describe her life, CloZee grins and dramatizes her mind exploding. With traction growing stateside, she is set to expand far beyond the transformational festivals and tours where she grew the same roots that nourished Bassnectar, Beats Antique, and Bonobo. CloZee is breaking through the canopy and into the sun. Come see her fly.

Q Nightclub presents Get Wicked: We’re thrilled to announce our Halloween event “Get Wicked” with Stanton Warriors and Worthy at Q Nightclub on Friday, October 27th. These two artists represent some of the best party-rocking house and breakbeat music in the world. With stellar local support from PostMatts, Dot Diggler, and Unknown ?layer, not to mention a $500 costume contest, this is the move to start your Halloween weekend.
Stanton Warriors: Since bursting onto the scene with their multi award-winning compilation “The Stanton Sessions” back in 2001, the Stanton Warriors’ irresistible and inimitable sound has consistently remained the soundtrack to some of the world’s biggest and best parties. In the studio, Bristol’s Mark Yardley and Dominic Butler have honed a trademark, uncategorisable sound that is at once all their own, but also utterly indefinable leading to high-profile releases, alongside official remixes from Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim, to MIA and Gorillaz. This phenomenal output and remarkable longevity has ensured the Stanton Warriors legendary status amongst not only their fans, but also their peers, as they remain fresh, original and relevant; obstinately dancing to beat of their own drum and helping to pave the way for new talent.
Worthy: When it comes down to all the hype, his name says it all. He is Worthy. With an in-depth knowledge of production, mixing, and performance, Worthy has the insight to play for his audience, cultivating intense positive energy on the dance floor. From salty aired islands to dark club basements, over the past 10 years, Worthy has paid reverence to the traditional form of classic house while tripping off the mark and sinking into the euphoric less-charted territories of booty-clapping bass. Growing up in Washington DC, Worthy was inspired by the early American rave scene. Upon moving to New York in the late ’90s, he was exposed to artists like LTJ Bukem and Stacey Pullen whose music inspired him to play records across multiple genres, from techno and breaks to hiphop and drum ‘n’ bass. In 2001, he swapped coastlines, moving to San Francisco to pursue his music career. There he teamed up with Claude Von Stroke and Justin and Christian Martin, becoming one of the four founding fathers of the Dirtybird party. Concurrently, Worthy has established his own label, Anabatic Records, which has allowed him to be a bit more experimental with his production, and expand his reach as an artist.
UNITING SOULS presents a special edition of Diggin’ Deep: ZOMBIE DISCO. Ramiro’s Halloween Scorpio Birthday Celebration! Featuring 3 rooms of music & two very special guests from San Francisco:
ATISH (Manjumasi, SF): The Atish experience: dynamic, emotive, ecstatic. Yet it is more than the sounds emanating from the speakers, it is also the man behind the decks: warm, compassionate, inviting. He is an entertainer and a catalyst: a magician who mixes deep melodies and sophisticated rhythms into musical journeys. Based in San Francisco, Atish has cultivated a devoted following around the world. He’s a natural performer who engages crowds with charm, a smile, and possibly a wig and a tutu. An obsessive music collector, Atish pulls from a broad sonic palette, and with these sounds he creates intimate atmospheres and emotional experiences that linger in your mind long after the music has stopped. Atish’s passion goes far beyond the decks as well. As cofounder of the Manjumasi record label, Atish has created an outlet for other artists’ music as well as his own playful productions. He also hosts his own Late Night Tonite! Party series, which combines a sit-down talk show interview with an all-night dance party. This format provides a richer context for the music and strengthens the emotional bonds between the audience and the artist. For Atish, it allows him to experiment with what dance music is and what it can be. Intimacy and connection are the foundations of the Atish experience. His multiple residencies speak to Atish’s ability to resonate with any crowd and highlight the range of his sound. From the blissed-out festival vibes of Desert Hearts, to the big city sophistication of New York’s The Cityfox Experience, and the small club coziness of Miami’s Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Atish brings people together with music and passion. This passion can be heard on Atish’s numerous DJ mixes found on Soundcloud. A prolific mixer, Atish finds the DJ mix the perfect format to create compelling narratives of rhythm and sound. Scrolling through his extensive catalog of mixes, one can hear an artist devoted to the music and dedicated to the perfection of his craft. It’s the same devotion Atish receives back from crowds and fans the world over. They understand it’s more than the music and the crowd and the DJ, it’s the magic that awakens when it all comes together. That’s the Atish experience.
GALEN (Sunset, SF): Galen founded Sunset Sound System by setting up a generator and speakers at a park in Berkeley, California every sunday to spin records he didn’t get a chance to play anywhere else. Word spread and soon many hundreds of people we’re dancing and picnicking while watching the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. Today, Sunset Sound System is on the move with incredible boat and outdoor parties as well as the annual Sunset Campout Festival. Galen developed his signature sound through these weekly jams and as well as his technically proficient yet fluid dj style. The psychedelic music scene of 90s San Francisco provided a launching point to his extensive vinyl collection the spans many genres from classic disco to post-punk to roots reggae and modern house music. His sets can travel a diverse range yet maintain a conscious groove of cohesiveness, always appropriate to the time and place. They are thoughtful, yet never pre-planned, with artfully-timed track selections that spark any dance floor, appealing to the old school just as much as the new. Music productions have become a more frequent mode of expression for Galen. Release collaborations with Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin, Lopazz, and Shiny Objects having laid the foundation to new solo endeavors. A handful exist now and are becoming more frequent as his bass & groove laden production style becomes more defined.

Featuring Very Special Guest DJ THE SCUMFROG (Knee Deep in Sound, NYC): 25 years after his first DJ gig, and 10 years since his first successful album, Jesse Houk aka The Scumfrog continues to do exactly what he feels like doing; recording his most personal album to date “In Case We’re All Still Here”. Going back to his roots of psychedelic and deep influences, mixed with a wink at sci-fi and a deep understanding of what makes a solid underground groove, Jesse teams up with Armada Music for a journey into Deep House and Tech House. Beside his widely acclaimed song with Sting “If I Ever Lose My Faith”, the album features collaborations with Static Revenger, Vince Elliott, Vassy, and Christian Burns, while other tracks on the album contain Jesse’s own signature vocals.
Not particularly inspired by the commercial side effects of the recent EDM explosion, The Scumfrog decided to retreat to the underground in 2011 with the release of “A Place Where We Belong” on his Facebook page; a project that spawned singles on prestigious labels like 1605, Floorplay, Inkfish, and Armada. He restricted his live shows strictly to venues that prioritize music and sound before bottle service and bachelorette parties, further reflecting his strong commitment to underground sounds, and to making a connection with people that share his love and vast knowledge of music.
Prior to his renewed alliance with the underground, The Scumfrog was mostly known for his award winning stripped-down remixes of artists like Missy Elliott, New Order, Kylie Minogue, and Annie Lennox, and his collaborations writing/producing techno oriented works with David Bowie and Cyndi Lauper. And now, with his Sting project “If I Ever Lose My Faith,” The Scumfrog strongly displays his deep House roots, while still giving mass appeal to the main vocal mix. As a DJ, The Scumfrog has toured the world many times over, and since 2009 he hosts a weekly radio show/podcast Glam Scum International, showcasing the side of Electronic Dance music that is not for everyone.
Upper Left & Seattle Theatre Group present SHADOWS: Upper Left’s avante-garde approach to Halloween returns on Saturday, October 28th. Live performances and DJ sets will once again provide the soundtrack for a multi-sensory journey into the darkest of holidays. Within the walls of the 96 year-old Neptune Theatre, we’ll combine some of today’s freshest sounds with the haunted imagery of a bygone era. This Halloween, you’re invited to join us as we musically and artistically explore the Shadows.
Toro Y Moi (DJ Set): Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Chaz Bear (formerly Bundick) has been actively involved in music going back to his early teenage years playing in punk and indie rock bands. Bear unveiled his Toro y Moi guise in 2001, in which he began incorporating electronics and channeling a wider swath of stylistic influences — from indie rock and ’60s baroque pop to ’80s R&B, French house, and underground hip-hop — into his own solo music. With each release, Bear has revealed himself to be as prolific as diverse. His always refreshing contributions to the music world culminated with the release of his most recent studio album, Boo Boo. If you’ve heard it, you know without a doubt why we’re so excited for his performance at Shadows.
Sango: Sango is a Seattle-based producer who is most known for his remixes of Aaliyah, Drake, Little Dragon, Nas, The Weeknd, his debut album ‘North,’ his Baile Funk EP series “Da Rocinha,” and his work with the Soulection collective. At the young age of 12, Sango started producing music alongside his older brother and his friends. His work mainly focuses on hip-hop, and soul influenced beats that over the years have come together as his own distinct and innovative sound. Having since produced for some of the industry’s hottest acts (Tinashe, Bryson Tiller, Mick Jenkins, GoldLink, Wale & more), Sango has become a household name in a whole lot of circles and we’re thrilled to hear what he brings to the table this Halloween.
Romaro Franceswa: A product of Federal Way, WA and blessed with the gift of gab from a young age, Franceswa’s style of rapping is brash and aggressive, but also humble and rooted in reality. His 2015 debut album Balance, helped thrust the young MC in front of massive crowds and landed him on the cover of City Arts Magazine. He’s opened for Rakim, Vince Staples, Jacquees, Vic Mensa, and toured nationally with Grieves of Rhymesayers. Make sure you’re front and center when he takes the stage at Shadows.
Qreepz: If you saw that Qreepz performance on the Upper Left stage at Upstream Music Fest, then you already know. Come ready for a show when this DJ/Producer puts his gritty-meets-melodic sound on full display at The Neptune.
Chong The Nomad: Seattle artist Chong the Nomad started producing and making beats when she was 14-years-old. Her time spent scoring films and studying classical chamber music composition at Cornish College of the Arts only added more emotion to the fire. Get there early for this one!

AMINE EDGE & DANCE: After blazing into the hearts and minds of the international music community with a modernized twist on low-end house and indebted four-to-the-floor, Amine Edge & DANCE look set to continue their meteoric rise with another string of sell out shows and prime-time festival slots in 2017. Hailing from Southern France, Amine Edge & DANCE have built their own musical empire, drawing inspiration from early House, Phili Soul, Hip-Hop and everything in between. The men from Marseille have set about developing their own signature sound and are starting to show their true talent and versatility as producers. The pair recently released the, ‘FCK UR OPINION’ EP via independent label Desolat, helmed by the legendary Loco Dice, which featured three monster techno tracks oozing hard bass and showcasing another slightly darker side of the AE&D sound. 2017 will see a slew of new singles including the landmark 50th release on their burgeoning label CUFF, a collaboration with velvet vocalist SerGy, that has already garnered support from Pete Tong at Radio 1 and beyond. In 2016, the globe-trotting duo capped another phenomenal year by being crowned winners of the “Bass” category at the 2016 DJ Awards. To become the cream of the sub-laden crop, Amine Edge & DANCE had to fend off the challenge of an internationally renowned group of bass-heavy heavyweights including Andy C, Chase and Status, Hannah Wants, DJ EZ and more. This was testament to their longevity and musical evolution, from bass-heavy hip-hop infused up-starts to heavyweight headline act.
Q Nightclub presents Low_pass: It’s time to set a higher bar for the low end of our music. Inspired by the sounds of bass house, G-house, UK garage, and more; Low_pass is our unfiltered take on uptempo, bassline-driven dance music. Q Nightclub’s award-winning Funktion-One sound system boasts 21 inch subwoofers and once a month we’re gonna find out just how far down the rabbit hole they’ll go.
Justin Martin: As the late Oscar Wilde once said: life is too important to be taken seriously, an ethos that Justin Martin is sticking with despite achieving soaring success as a producer and international DJ. Justin initially pricked the ears of the electronic music community in 2003 with his first record The Sad Piano. Everyone in the electronic music food chain got involved, from the A-list DJs like Derrick Carter and Pete Tong that were playing the track, to the international music press that were raving about it. Like someone that goes bowling for the first time and gets five strikes and a turkey, Justin couldnt really have hoped for a better entrance. Feeding off the energy of the San Francisco underground and mentored by fellow super producer Claude Vonstroke, Justin was intrinsically involved with the development of Dirtybird records, appearing on its first four releases. Justin was soon ready to take flight, releasing a string of solo EPs which flaunted a very unique sound and garnered still more respect among fellow DJS and heavyweights of the scene.
Showbox presents The Floozies: Funk Jesus Tour 2017 with The Funk Hunters and Maddy O’Neal
Just outside the jazz mecca of Kansas City springs liberal oasis Lawrence, Kansas—separated only by the waves of wheat from the epicenter of the electronic music revolution in Colorado. From Lawrence, it would logically follow that an act could rise to prominence fueled by the swing of Basie, the birth of Charlie Parker’s bebop, and the wild frontier of electronica. Born in funk and bred in the digital age, live electronic duo The Floozies have burst onto the scene at a time when the industry needed them the most. Brothers Matt and Mark Hill share the stage just as easily as they share a musical brain. Without a setlist, and without a word between them, Matt’s guitar is in lockstep with the thud of Mark’s kick. Endless looping and production builds the raw scenery upon which palm muted chugs, searing solos, and wobbling bass paint their dazzling array of colors.
The Crocodile presents the Russ Liquid Test with Defunk
Redefining the possibilities of modern music, The Russ Liquid Test fuses the raw vitality of classic funk and the inventive sound design of electronic production. Songwriter/producer and renowned brass specialist Russell Scott heads up the New Orleans-based band. Guitarist Andrew Block and drummer Deven Trusclair round things out, with each providing a distinct musical background deeply rooted in the New Orleans jazz scene. Their debut EP 1984 featured an eclectic array of guest collaborators such as Mr. Lif and Ivan Neville—successfully creating an auditory canvas to forge The Russ Liquid Test’s irresistibly soulful future-vintage stylings.

Capitol Hill Block Party + Showbox present Slow Magic
A DIY project with worldwide scope, Slow Magic is universal and inclusive. It’s cosmic electronic music culled from the ether, yet crafted with human hands. It’s joyous, escapist, multi-disciplinary art that mixes transcendent performance with the nostalgic intimacy of two teenagers staying up too late on the phone. After the release of 2012’s beloved and critically-acclaimed Triangle, Slow Magic became an international movement after touring with artists like Gold Panda and XXYYXX. Crowds found a masked man in their midst, bathed in fantastic light, with electronic triggers and a drum. The future-primitive combination infused the project’s electronic compositions with new life. How To Run Away, Slow Magic’s debut with Downtown Records, reflects this growth, oozing both otherworldly beauty and a mastery of production. Lead single “Girls” is deconstructionist house with an organic pulse and collaged, handcrafted samples. “Hold Still” sculpts elastic organs and jazz piano into an emotionally-pummeling finale, while the melancholy “Let U Go” merges watery dub with spectral piano and “Closer” plays like a ‘90s R&B fever dream. Slow Magic is music by your imaginary friend.
