Lipphead (Blockhead + Eliot Lipp)
Blockhead: The internationally renowned NYC producer Tony Simon, aka BLOCKHEAD, has released more than a dozen albums spanning over two decades. These include acclaimed records for Ninja Tune, Rhymesayers, Young Heavy Souls, Future Archive, and more, as well as numerous production jobs including notable works with Aesop Rock. He is regarded as one of the modern masters of instrumental hip-hop and downtempo electronic.
Eliot Lipp: Lipp has released music with Alpha Pup, Pretty Lights Music, his label Old Tacoma Records, and now Young Heavy Souls. Lipp’s most recent record Viper Venom dropped in May of 2024. VV blends Lipp’s classic old-school electro-funk vibes and high-fidelity future synth breaks. Lipp also comprises half of the band Lipphead and renowned NYC producer Blockhead. Whether he’s in the studio, DJ booth, or behind a synth with his live band, If Lipp is making music he’s at home and locked in.
Shrimpnose: Shrimpnose has been climbing the ranks over the past years, with features in Complex, VICE, NPR, and most recently Rinse FM, Passion of the Weiss, and BBC. He has a decorated history of collaborations with maxime., arbour, Bleep Bloop, Daedelus, Bobby Raps, Little Snake and his many label mates at Friends of Friends. He has performed across the country with underground heavyweights such as Anonalie, XXYYXX, Purity Ring, Caspa, TOKiMONSTA, Giraffage, and more. He has also played one of the final Low End Theory nights in LA, where he would eventually set as home base. On the heels of his success from his anticipated albums “Under Fire!”, “A Ghost From a Memory”, his eps “The Things You Take Pride In” and “small wonders”, and his collaborative project “Between Dunes” with Joe Nora – all through Los Angeles based label Friends of Friends – he is gearing up for his next release with FoF. He also has recent releases on Brainfeeder Records, Bitbird, and Blue Note & Astralwerks Records. His music flutters between the beautiful and the jagged corners of electronic music.
