Dubtribe (Sunshine Jones & Moonbeam Jones): In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, something magical began to unfold in San Francisco, leading to the blossoming of the Bay Area’s now-legendary rave and underground dance music movement and community. The music, the movement, and its message were focused on love, freedom, justice, and above all, peace. That is where Dubtribe Sound System was born, led by Sunshine Jones and Moonbeam Jones, immersed in art and creative output, at underground loft parties and warehouse parties, live musicians performing with DJ’s who were pioneering acid house and breaks, pushing the boundaries of technology, and creating and playing music that was new to all ears. For the next decade and half, Sunshine and Moonbeam traveled the world, singing songs and making sounds with live percussionists, guest toasters, dancers, and dreamers to bring live electronic music to the fields, beaches, warehouses and basements and open up your mind, your heart, and bring something beautiful into being. After going their separate ways in 2005, they’ve reunited as Dubtribe on a handful of special occasions, when all of the elements felt right and were properly aligned.
