Luke Mandala

Uniting Souls Music presents Diggin’ Deep: Record release party celebrating the forthcoming release of Luke Mandala’s new single “Where We Met” out now on Uniting Souls Music!

Luke Mandala (Traum, Selador, Book Shade, Desert Hearts, Uniting Souls Music): When the deep house/techno community of the Sacramento / SF area captured his heart in ’98, Luke basically moved to where he found his favorite dance communities ever since. The healing power of dance is a major theme in Luke’s life and always will be, it has shaped who he is since he was 14. This is deep piscean scorpio music, sprinkled with unusual sounds, unexpected twists, eclectic mix of global sounds, various tempos and grooves. It reflects stories of love-driven culture and open-minded ideas. Depending on the crowd, the sets can vary from being pretty and uplifting to deep, dark, and primal, although they typically feature melodic and atmospheric textures infused with a lot of emotion. Luke also has a functional (natural, root cause) medicine practice as this weaves so beautiful with dance and music medicine. He helps people heal frequent issues of the gut, metabolism and tiredness.

After some amazing experiences opening his heart and mind with the dance music scene in Northern California in the 90’s, he had to move down to San Diego to finish high school. There, Luke continued to learn to mix house/techno vinyl, mostly on his own due to the fact that he didn’t know anyone else who knew what house music was during those high school years! Greatly missing the dance scenes that inspired him in the NW, Luke moved back north to be involved with the Sacramento/Bay Area scene shortly after finishing high school in 2002. It was then that he started throwing small outdoor dance events in the woods with an emphasis on community and kindness.

Around 2004 Luke moved to Humboldt, CA after he was inspired by Deep Groove Society, a crew that was doing some epic outdoor events on the beach and on mountain tops around that region. Luke didn’t stay long because shortly after moving to Humboldt, he was booked him to play some music at a warehouse party in Portland Oregon where Luke fell in love with the area. After living in Portland for 1.5 years and throwing some outdoor events in the region, Luke moved to Eugene, Oregon around 2005 to focus more on music production. From 2005-2009 Luke was frequently throwing indoor/outdoor dance parties around Eugene, ran a big Turbosound sound system called Vortex Sound, and had a 45 foot greyhound bus that ran on veggie oil that stored and transported the sound system to events around the West U.S..

As a young DJ, Luke was also playing large events in 2005-2009 such as Zuvuya III festival in Mexico, legendary Oracle Gatherings (Seattle), Guatemala, Mexico, Fire Festival and more. From 2009 onward Luke has been touring around the world with DJ/Live sets performing at big events such as Symbioses Global Eclipse, Beloved Festival (OR), Serenity Gathering (CA), Photosynthesis/Cascadia Festivals (WA), Chinese New Year (SF), Inspire Truth New Years (PDX), Decibel Festivals, and regularly with the legendary Moontribe events over the years.

Originally releasing all styles of music as Luke Mandala in 2008, Luke eventually created a moniker called Mandala Affect in 2018 to release his downtempo and bass music, and releases house and techno as Luke Mandala. To present day, Luke’s songs have been played by legends like Sasha, James Zabiela, Boris Brejcha, Solomon, Desert Dwellers, Dave Seaman, Kaya Project, and BLOND:ISH. Official remixes from artists like Desert Dwellers, Bluetech, Christian Martin, Chloe Harris, Kaminanda, Govinda, Roger Martinez, Pezzner, Robert Babicz, and Deya Dova.

Record labels include Selador, Desert Hearts, Digital Structures, Dreaming Awake, Desert Trax, Booka Shade Music and over 40 more. Now at the age of 39, the healing power of dance is deeply woven with Luke’s soul because he has been DJing consistently since the age of 14 when he was developing his identity in life. The compassion, community and unity of the music scene has been a massive inspiration for Luke.
