March is almost spring so we’ve brought a guest who has seen that brighter future. By way of NYC & Guadalajara, Volen found space in LA to translate his hip hop inclinations into a mix of cutting-edge break-beat, minimal, and electro as an eclectic underground DJ and producer. Relentlessly experimenting with production in the lab, Volen explores hybridities between house, breaks, techno and electro to craft a sound at once classic while equally forward-thinking. The combination of these two otherwise opposed forces–commitment to the craft & a disruptive futurism–leaves little wonder at Volen’s path as a recent breakthrough artist on local and international underground music platforms.

Volen’s versatility and precision on turntables speaks to the flows and intersections of his past–moving across borders and genres while maintaining the poise to continuously expand his knowledge of electronic music’s quirks and complexities. He’ll be joined at Kremwerk by two local favorites who channel the future-oriented perspective and veteran sensibility driving Seattle’s electronic music horizons: Jenn Green & Cory Simpson.
