Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested After Bass Canyon Death
Quincy R. Travers, a 28 year old man from Seattle, was arrested Sunday night of Bass Canyon 2026 following the death of Zion Randall, a 27 year old man from Olympia. Zion is suspected of dying as a result of “drug poisoning”, with news agencies reporting that he suffered cardiac arrest and passed away at medical in the venue after he and a friend ingested drugs sold by Travers. The friend then assisted police by setting up another purchase of the same drug, which was observed by an undercover officer. Travers was then arrested by plainclothes officers and booked into the Grant County jail on a $7,500 bail.
Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, or INET, arrested Travers on multiple controlled substances related charges and are investigating the death as a “suspected controlled substance homicide”. Investigators are awaiting lab drug test results and an official autopsy, and are gathering more information before adding any additional charges. Travers’ next court appearance is scheduled for September 9th, and he was still in custody as of the morning of August 18th.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office shared the following statement via Facebook:
Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, or INET, arrested a Seattle man at The Gorge Amphitheater on Sunday evening after a 27-year-old Olympia, Wash., man died from suspected drug poisoning.
Update 8/18: Coroner Craig Morrison identified the victim as Zion Randall. Cause and manner of death are pending lab results. His family has been notified.
The Gorge Amphitheater was hosting the Bass Canyon electronic dance music festival this past weekend. Detectives learned of the death at the concert venue and spoke with the victim’s friends. During the investigation, INET detectives learned the victim had consumed drugs purchased from another festival attendee. According to witnesses, the victim became ill after consuming the suspected controlled substances and later died at the venue’s medical facility. INET’s investigation identified the suspected drug dealer as 28-year-old Quincy R. Travers.
INET detectives then conducted an undercover operation targeting Travers and purchased suspected illegal drugs from him. After the transaction, investigators arrested Travers on suspicion of one count of delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute — one count each involving cocaine, ketamine and MDMA allegedly found in Travers’ possession.INET is investigating the death as a suspected controlled substance homicide. The Grant County Coroner’s Office will perform the victim’s autopsy this week.
This investigation involved Yakima County’s Law Enforcement Against Drugs Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Washington State Patrol Cannabis Enforcement Response Team, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Concert venue operator Live Nation provided vital assistance to INET during the investigation.
