Will one of DJ Mag’s 5 US  Top 100 DJ Parties be Seattle’s 2012 Freaknight?  Per the 9/19/2012 cached version of DJ Mag’s Press Release “Top 100 DJs Party announced!”, Seattle on October 26th, 2012 (Freaknight) was originally noted as one of the 5 US locations.  First confirmed by this Vibe blog post on 9/22/2012, Seattle has since been removed from the press release.  However, the DJ Mag press release still says that 5 US cities will host the Top 100 parties.

USC Events recently announced via Facebook that they will reveal more headliners this Thursday, stating:  “In spirit of Halloween tricks and treats, we have a surprise for all of you! Thursday at 1pm, we will announce more haunting headliners for FreakNight.”  Could this Freaknight release also include the DJ Mag announcement?  We shall see …

Before (cached version):  “Furthermore, reflecting the explosion of electronic dance music in the US in recent times, we’ll also be throwing Top 100 DJs parties in the US — five, to be precise. The new No.1 will be playing at a special Top 100 party in Miami at Mansion on 24th October. This will be followed the next night (25th) by a Top 100 party in New York, and then one in Seattle on the 26th. With no rest for the wicked, there’ll be a Top 100 party at Marquee Day Club & Night Club in Las Vegas on 27th October, and then another one in Los Angeles on 28th October. Anyone Stateside should seriously try to make the effort to attend one of these. DJ Mag Top 100 DJs parties are always seriously off the chain.”

After (current version):  “Furthermore, reflecting the explosion of electronic dance music in the US in recent times, we’ll also be throwing Top 100 DJs parties in the US — five, to be precise. The new No.1 will be playing at a special Top 100 party in Miami at Mansion on 24th October. This will be followed the next night (25th) by a Top 100 party in New York.

Note 1:  Note that in the revised version, the article still states that 5 US cities will host the parties, but only 4 US cities are listed.

Note 2:  Both versions contain this comment:  “The No.1 will also play at the Ministry party alongside Markus Schulz, Thomas Gold, ørjan Nilsen and Sean Tyas — also on Friday 19th October.”  Common consensus from the EDM online blogosphere  maintains that Markus Schultz or Armin Van Buuren are the contenders for the 2012 Top DJ – the fact that the article states that the #1 will play alongside Markus indicates that Armin should be #1.

However, the poll has been plagued with fraudulent voting along with other issues; and with the majority of USA voters being relatively new to the EDM culture, it would not surprise me at all if neither Markus nor Armin doesn’t win.  I could care less who wins the poll as I personally consider the poll irrelevant.  However, I am very interested if Seattle will be one of the lucky 5 US cities who will host this year’s Top 100 parties!  We shall see …
