Forgive me for this brief detour from electro to summertime-infused reggae electro-pop – oh hell, it’s been so depressing and rainy around the northwest lately, don’t forgive me for anything!  We need some summertime around here…

Today’s featured track is the third remix from Viceroy‘s “Jet Life” remix series, this time of Mark Morrison’s classic track Return of the Mack.  After kicking off the series with the total transformation of Wiz Khalifa’s track “This Plane” (free d/l in link), and the equally enjoyable remix of Biggie’s “Goin’ Back to Cali” (free d/l on Viceroy’s Facebook page), Viceroy brings us the summertime-infused, reggae’d up version of “Return of the Mack”.  If you are any where near my age, this track was a pretty big deal during my high school years.

Bonus:  Keep your ears open for a HQ version of Alvin Risk’s latest remix, this time of Skrillex’ Ruffneck Bass.  While I love the sounds of Alvin, and really love the original Skrillex track, what stood out to me in this remix is Alvin’s use of the Welcome to Jamrock sample in the remix.   I don’t believe that this was intentional, but likely due to a transition in the set from which the original rip was recorded, but it is pure brilliance, in my opinion.  It sure would be one hell of a triple whammy in one remix:  Skrillex combined with Alvin AND Damian!   Stay tuned, this remix will definitely be a featured track on EmeradCityEDM.com soon!  Grab your d/l of the low quality live rip here, and the “StrangStick edit” here (StrangeStick edit features more of the Jamrock sample than the original live version).
